Columbus 5, Lehigh Valley 3

Ben Lively - 6 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, BB, 4 K, HR, HBP, 3 GB, 10 FB
Dalier Hinojosa - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, K
Colton Murray - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Michael Mariot - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Cam Perkins - 0 for 4, 2 K (throwing error)
Nick Williams - 0 for 4
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 3, BB, 2 K
Darnell Sweeney - 0 for 4, 3 K

Ben Lively gave up a season-high 5 runs last night and was highly ineffective. Dalier Hinojosa continues his rehab trail and should eventually get the call back up to the big club. J.P. Crawford got the night off and seemingly everyone else did so despite playing. With his single last night, Andrew Knapp is batting .286 in his last 10 games (.267 overall on the season). The IronPigs runs last night came via a solo HR from Darin Ruf (his 9th) and a two-RBI single from Emmanuel Burriss. Lets just pretend this game didn't exist.

Reading 8, Erie 7

Mark Leiter - 5.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, HBP, WP, 7 GB, 1 FB
Joely Rodriguez - 2.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K (pickoff error)
Jesmuel Valentin - 1 for 3, 2 R, 2B, BB
Rhys Hoskins - 0 for 2, R, 3 BB, SB
Dylan Cozens - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2B, HR, 4 RBI, 2 K
Angelo Mora - 0 for 3, BB
Harold Martinez - 2 for 4, 2 2B, RBI
Gabriel Lino - 2 for 3, R, BB

If you don't love Jake Fox, I don't know what else I can do to save your soul. With one out in the bottom of the 9th and the game tied at 7, Jake Fox hit a walk-off HR to left field to end the game. It was his 13th longball on the season and improved the Fightin's record to 54-23. Dylan Cozens also hit another dinger, his 20th this year. That ties him back with fellow teammate Rhys Hoskins for most in all of minor league baseball. Rhys Hoskins also stole a base in the game, his 1st this season.

Daytona 5, Clearwater 4 (10 innings)

Shane Watson - 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, 2 K, HBP, 7 GB, 4 FB
Joey Denato - 1.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER
Ulises Joaquin - 2.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, HR, WP
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 5, K (outfield assist, 3B)
Scott Kingery - 1 for 5, R
Mitch Walding - 1 for 4, R, BB, K
Zach Green - 1 for 5, 3 K
Chace Numata - 0 for 3, R, BB (passed ball and interference error)
Kyle Martin - 2 for 5, HR, 3 RBI, K
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 4
Jinadido Tromp - 2 for 4, 2 2B, RBI, K
Cord Sandberg - 1 for 4, 2 K

Shane Watson has been pretty competent his last two outings, going 12 innings of 10 hit, 1 run ball with 8 strikeouts to 4 walks. He actually left the game with a 4-1 lead, but the bullpen fell apart. Carlos Tocci extended his hitting streak to 11 games. Kyle Martin hit his 9th HR, which is his first since way back on May 27th.

Lakewood 6, Hagerstown 5

Tyler Gilbert - 6 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB, 4 K, HR, 2 WP, 5 GB, 6 FB
Sutter McLoughlin - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, K
Zach Morris - 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, K, WP
Zack Coppola - 1 for 5, K
Grenny Cumana - 0 for 5, R, K
Josh Tobias - 4 for 5, 2 R, 2B, 3B
Wilson Garcia - 2 for 5, RBI
Damek Tomscha - 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, BB
Deivi Grullon - 2 for 4, 2 2B, K
Brendon Hayden - 2 for 4, R, 2B, RBI (fielding error)
Carlos Duran - 2 for 3, RBI, CS
Emmanuel Marrero - 0 for 4 (throwing error)

Tyler Gilbert racked up another quality start, but not the win. Josh Tobias was a homerun short of the cycle last night and raised his season line to .299/.370/.442 in 274 at-bats. Damek Tomscha hit a 2-run HR in the 8th inning, his 3rd of the season. Deivi Grullon continues to have a very interesting season so far. Not known for his bat, but he is hitting the ball a bit and getting on base (.250/.337/.385). Not necessarily bad for a "defense first" catcher who is still only 20 years old.

Williamsport 5, Auburn 0

Adonis Medina - 8.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 4 K, 2 HBP, 13 GB, 4 FB
Jeff Singer - 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
David Martinelli - 1 for 5, HR
Enmanuel Garcia - 2 for 4, K, CS
Lucas Williams - 0 for 4, K
Darick Hall - 0 for 3, K, HBP
Luis Encarnacion - 0 for 4
Arquimedes Gamboa - 0 for 3, R, BB
Luke Maglich - 1 for 3, 2 R, 2B, BB
Gregori Rivero - 2 for 3, HR, 3 RBI, HBP
Jose Antequera - 0 for 4, K, SB

So, Adonis Medina nearly did the thing. He had a no-no going into the bottom of the ninth before giving up a 1-out base-hit to right field. In three starts, Medina has gone 21 innings of 6-hit, no run ball with 6 walks to 9 strikeouts. Low-strikeouts are disappointing, but weak contact is very, very good. The offense got going via the long-ball, which is certainly rare for the club in the early going. David Martinelli hit a solo shot in the 6th and Gregori Rivero hit a 2-run HR in the 7th. Both were their first of the season. Luis Encarnacion continues to struggle out of the gate, going 8 for 39.

GCL Phillies 9, GCL Tigers West 6

Mauricio Llovera - 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 3 GB, 2 FB
Yoervis Medina - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K
Austin Davis - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K
Geury Ortiz - 0.2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, K, HR
Tyler Frohwirth - 0.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, K
Jesus Alastre - 3 for 6, RBI, K
Daniel Brito - 2 for 6, R, 3B, 2 RBI
Malvin Matos - 2 for 5, R, 2B, RBI, K, SB
Danny Zardon - 0 for 5, 2 K
Jhailyn Ortiz - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, RBI, BB, K
Caleb Eldridge - 1 for 4, 2 R, 2B, BB, K
Enger Jimenez - 1 for 5, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Rodolfo Duran - 1 for 2, RBI, CS
Nerluis Martinez - 0 for 0, R, 3 BB
Raul Rivas - 2 for 3, R, RBI, BB

Mauricio Llovera made his professional state-side debut last night. The 20 year old righty spent last season in the defunct Venezuela Summer League. Yoervis Medina wound up picking up the win (his first) and Tyler Frohwirth picked up his first save. The game also featured a rehabbing Austin Davis, who is sure to eventually work his way back up to Lakewood or Clearwater. Jesus Alastre is red hot so far, going 10 for 26 with two stolen bases.
