Tom Eshelman just can't seem to find his footing in AA. He saw his ERA rise nearly 2 runs after this effort (6.75). Rhys Hoskins remains an absolute treasure, hitting his MiLB-leading 27th HR. Aaron Altherr began his rehab last night in Reading and pitchers just keep on pegging him with pitches. Please stop that.

Will Morris carried a no-hitter into the 7th before giving up a 1-out HR. It was a stellar outing for Morris, who improved to 6-2 and lowered his FSL ERA to 3.06. Jiandido Tromp saved the game by throwing out a runner at home in the Top of the 8th to hold onto the 1-run lead. Malquin Canelo steals his 9th base (and gets caught for the 7th time). Chance Numata has been hitting the ball well this season and holds a .299/.362/.391 line.

Jose Tavares strikeouts out double-digit batters for the second time this season (he struck out 15 back on 6/25). The offense went 3 for 9 with RISP and left 5 on base. Zack Coppola stole his 11th base. Josh Tobias' 23rd double moved him into a tie for 4th in the South Atlantic League.

Luis Encarnacion - 0 for 4, 2 K
Chandler Hall - 0 for 4, 2 K
Luis Espiritu - 1 for 3, BB, K
Juan Luis - 0 for 4 (fielding error)
Bailey Falter struckout a career-high 10 batters in last night's contest. The pitching would be phenomenal from both teams, with offenses combining for 7 hits through the first 9 innings. Williamsport would get their run without even hitting the ball. Here is the sequence that score the run: HBP, BB, K, K, BB, WP. Exciting!
GCL Phillies 8, GCL Pirates 3
Kevin Gowdy - 3 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 5 GB, 3 FB (fielding error)

Cole Stobbe - 0 for 3, BB, K (fielding error)
Edwin Rodriguez - 2 for 3, HR, 2 RBI, BB, K
Ben Pelletier - 0 for 3, 2 R, BB
Kevin Gowdy gets roughed up for the second start in a row. The two walks issued yesterday were his first two of the season. Jhailyn Ortiz continues to show why he was considered a Top International Free Agent from a year ago. His HR was his 6th and his SB was his 2nd. The two walks were probably most encouraging. His season slash is .312/.404/.623 in 77 at-bats. While not as flashy as Ortiz, Mickey Moniak's line so far is .324/.382/.412 in 68 at-bats. Edwin Rodriguez hit his 1st HR of the season, a two-run bomb in the 8th inning.
