Butch Dill-USA TODAY Sports

Today's Probables:

LHV: Ben Lively
REA: Ricardo Pinto
CLR: Luke Leftwich

Lehigh Valley 8, Syracuse 5 (GM1 of doubleheader, 7 innings)
Lehigh Valley 4, Syracuse 2 (GM2 of doubleheader, 7 innings, makeup of 7/25 ppd)

Jake Thompson - 5 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, BB, 3 K, HR, 8 GB, 2 FB
Adam Morgan - 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, HBP, 5 GB, 2 FB
J.P. Crawford - 0 for 5, R, BB
Nick Williams - 2 for 6, R, 2B, 3 RBI, K
Brock Stassi - 1 for 3, HR
Jesmuel Valentin - 0 for 5, R, BB, K
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 3, RBI
Cam Perkins - 1 for 3, R, K, HBP
Darnell Sweeney - 1 for 3, 2B, 2 RBI

The first game of the doubleheader was backed by not-so-great pitching from Jake Thompson, but a powerful IronPig offense. Stassi's HR was his 8th of the season and Cedric Hunter also hit two solo HRs in the game. Nick Williams hit a bases clearing double to finish a 7-run 2nd inning. The second game was capped off by a come from behind win from the Lehigh Valley, pulling ahead of Syracuse in the bottom of the 5th via a two-run double from Darnell Sweeney. Adam Morgan improved to 4-1 with the IronPigs.

Binghamton 5, Reading 2

Tom Eshelman - 4 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, HR, 2 GB, 6 FB
Mark Leiter - 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 8 K, HR
Scott Kingery - 1 for 5
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 5, 2 K
Jorge Alfaro - 1 for 4, HR, K
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 4, HR, K (fielding error)
Rhys Hoskins - 1 for 1, 3 BB, SB
Angelo Mora - 2 for 4, 3B

A poor Tom Eshelman start and an untimely offense doomed Reading last night. The offense went 1 for 11 with RISP and left 9 on. The good news? Jorge Alfaro hit his 12th HR and Dylan Cozens hit his 26th last night. Rhys Hoskins remained red hot, reaching base in all plate appearances and swiping his 4th bag of the season. Eshelman continues to struggle to find his footing in Reading. His ERA and WHIP have shot up to 6.75 and 1.91, respectively in 29.1 innings in AA.

Clearwater 5, Daytona 4

Elniery Garcia - 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, 2 K, HR, 8 GB, 2 FB
Matt Hockenberry - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K
Victor Arano - 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 5, 2 K
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 5, HR
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 5, HR
Kyle Martin - 0 for 3, 2 R, BB, 2 K
Zach Green - 3 for 3, 3 2B, RBI, BB
Mitch Walding - 1 for 2, 2 BB
Chace Numata - 2 for 3, 2 RBI
Derek Campbell - 1 for 4
Drew Stankiewicz - 0 for 3, BB

Elniery Garcia improved to 9-2 and lowered his ERA to 2.64. He is a potential promotion candidate when the organization deems so. Matt Hockenberry meanwhile has also done about all he can do to prove that he doesn't belong is A ball anymore. Despite some shaky outings in brief callups to Reading, he deserves to be there. This may or not be my Temple University pride coming out. Carlos Tocci hit his 3rd HR of the season and is 1 away from tying his single-season high set last season. Jiandido Tromp hit his 6th HR and has been scorching through his last 10, hitting .355 with 4 HR and a SB.

Lakewood 6, Hickory 3

Seranthony Dominguez - 4 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, HR, WP, 4 GB, 3 FB
Zach Morris - 3 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 K, WP
Jeff Singer - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 K
Ismael Cabrera - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Zack Coppola - 0 for 3, 2 BB, K
Cornelius Randolph - 1 for 4, R, BB, K
Josh Tobias - 2 for 5, R, K
Damek Tomscha - 0 for 2, R, 2 BB, HBP
Jose Pujols - 2 for 5, HR, 2 RBI, 2 K
Wilson Garcia - 2 for 5, R, 2 2B, RBI, K
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 4, R, 2B, BB, 2 K
Carlos Duran - 0 for 4, BB, K
Grenny Cumana - 1 for 4, 2 K

Seranthony Dominguez has now sandwiched two bad starts between two brilliant ones. In his last two starts he had gone 12 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 9 K. However, the bullpen held on and the offense battled back. Jose Pujols hit his FSL leading 19th HR, but also struck out twice in the process (we can call this the minor league Jose Pujols line). Zach Morris got the win, his 5th and Ismael Cabrera got his 2nd save. Across two levels, Jeff Singer has 31 strikeouts to 5 walks in 24.2 innings this season.

Williamsport 4, Auburn 0 (GM1 of doubleheader, 7 innings)

Scott Harris - 2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 K
Mark Laird - 1 for 4, R
Arquimedes Gamboa - 0 for 6, BB, 2 K, SB (throwing error)
Jesus Alastre - 0 for 3, K
Jan Hernandez - 1 for 1, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI
Darick Hall - 2 for 3, R, 2 2B, 3 RBI
Luis Encarnacion - 2 for 6, R, RBI, K
Henri Lartigue - 1 for 3, K
Luis Espiritu - 1 for 3
Enamnuel Garcia -  0 for 3, K
David Martinelli - 1 for 4, 2 RBI, 2 K
Luke Maglich - 2 for 3, 2 R
Brett Barbier - 2 for 3, R, K
Gregori Rivero - 2 for 2, 2 R, 2B, RBI (passed ball)
Chandler Hall - 0 for 2, RBI, K (fielding error)
Evan Rogers - 1 for 3, RBI, K (fielding error)
Juan Luis - 0 for 3

No-Hitter!!!! Ranger Suarez becomes the first to do that for Williamsport since 2013 when Yacksel Rios, Mark Meadors and Manny Martinez combined for a 9-inning no-hitter. Here is a video of the final inning courtesy of Mitch Rupert. He was backed up by Darick Hall whose two doubles in the 1st and 3rd inning accounted for 3 of the Crosscutters runs. Felix Paulino followed up in Game 2 with an excellent outing, striking out a season-high 7 batters. He has given up only 2 earned runs in his last two starts. The game was tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the 6th inning when the Crosscutters plated for 4 runs via RBI-singles from Luis Encarnacion (1), Evan Rogers (1) and David Martinelli (2).

GCL Phillies 5, GCL Tigers West 0

Mauricio Llovera - 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 5 K, HBP, 5 GB, 2 FB
Kyle Young - 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 K
Jordan Kurokawa - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, K (pickoff error)
Roman Quinn - 1 for 3, R, BB, K, SB
Daniel Brito - 1 for 5, R, 3B, RBI, K
Mickey Moniak - 2 for 4, 2B, K, picked off
Jhailyn Ortiz - 0 for 3, R, RBI, BB, K, SB
Josh Stephen - 0 for 4, 2 K
Cole Stobbe - 0 for 2, R, BB, HBP
Edwin Rodriguez - 1 for 3, HR, 3 RBI, BB
Rodolfo Duran - 0 for 2 (two passed balls)
Nerluis Martinez - 0 for 2
Raul Rivas - 2 for 4

Mauricio Llovera got his 3rd win of the season and carried a no-hitter himself into the 5th inning before giving up a 1-out single. Llovera has 26 strikeouts to 8 walks in 28 innings this season. Roman Quinn shakes off the rust and steals his 1st base with the GCL Phils and 26th overall on the season. Mickey Moniak just keeps hitting, improving his line to .321/.378/.432 in 81 at-bats. Jhailyn Ortiz doesn't hit a homer, but steals his 3rd base. Edwin Rodriguez, a 19 year old out of the Dominican Republic, hit his 3rd dinger of the season.
