When the Phillie Phanatic scared the crap out of NBC’s Savannah Guthrie

You never know when the Phillie Phanatic is going to strike next.

Poor Savannah Guthrie of NBC’s "Today" Show found that out the hard way during Thursday morning’s live hit as she and the crew were in Philadelphia covering the Democratic National Convention.

Along with the rest of the "Today" crew, the Phanatic made a surprise appearance and, apparently, nearly killed an unsuspecting Guthrie.

Of course, the Phanatic, who has no real soul, seemed oblivious to the havoc he was causing and the near panic he instilled in Guthrie, who has been burning the candle at both ends of NBC’s coverage of the convention.

It has clearly taken its toll.

Here’s hoping Savannah gets some rest before the next Phanatic surprise appearance actually kills her.

Something the sadistic Phanatic would probably get a perverse kick out of. After all, he’s done it before.
