PHILLIES: Velasquez impressed the Royals in six innings Sunday at Citizens Bank Park. He held them to five hits and two runs, and he did it without his trademark fastball. He said he battled a "dead arm" against the Royals.

ROCKIES: Gray threw six mostly solid innings in his last start, but lost to the Dodgers because of a second inning that saw him give up a Trayce Thompson homer, hit a batter and walk three batters.
