What a pisser. Usually, I love west coast night games. The time zones, for one, and the stadiums are usually good, and the competition usually solid.
Unfortunately, all manner of nonsense kept me from watching tonight. Based on the box score, I'm glad. Chase Utley went 2 for 5, but he's a Dodger now. Aaron Altherr and Freddy Galvis homered, and Maikel Franco got two hits. David Hernandez struck out three in an inning and two-thirds. That's about all that went well.
Vincent Velasquez was hammered, giving up nine runs on 11 hits and two walks in less than five innings. Dodgers' starter Kenta Maeda fared better, but wasn't sharp either, with three runs in five, on six hits and a pair of walks.
Looking for embeddable highlight clips, the best one seems to be this replay review call at second.
YAYGUYS.
Then this weirdness with Kershaw using a phone and Vin Scully mispronouncing Jimmy Paredes' name.
Amazing. Great. Fantastic.
With the loss, Philadelphia drops to 52-63, while LA improves to 64-49. Game three of this series is tomorrow morning, if you'd believe it, at 11:10 Alaska time, with Jeremy Hellickson taking the hill against Scott Kazmir.
In better news, the US is crushing gymnastics and swimming right now, so I'm gonna go watch that. Have a night, folks.
