Phillies Minor League Roundup - August 15, 2016

Today's Probables:

LHV: Anthony Vasquez
REA: Tom Eshelman
CLR: GM1 Brandon Leibrandt, GM2 Ranfi Casimiro
LWD: GM1 Franklyn Kilome, GM2 Jose Tavares

Pawtucket 5, Lehigh Valley 1

David Buchanan - 6.1 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, HR, 12 GB, 5 FB
Cam Perkins - 0 for 4
Nick Williams - 0 for 4, K
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 3, 2 K, HBP
Darnell Sweeney - 0 for 3, 3 K (fielding and throwing errors)
Brock Stassi - 2 for 3, HBP
Jesmuel Valentin - 0 for 2, R, BB, K

After a phenomenal July, August has been a bit of a drag for the IronPigs. Having J.P. Crawford out of the lineup hasn't helped much either. Crawford is due to take BP today and could be in the game tonight, but we shall wait and see. He is nursing an oblique injury, something that can linger if you don't let heal properly. David Buchanan loses back-to-back starts for the first time this season despite the quality start last night. Nick Williams is just 6 for his last 39 at-bats. The offense last night was shutdown by Boston's "not really a prospect anymore, thank god we didn't trade Hamels for him as the key piece" Henry Owens.

Dunedin 4, Clearwater 1

Drew Anderson - 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, BB, 8 K, 6 GB, 1 FB
Tom Windle - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
Ulises Joaquin - 2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, K, HR
Jiandido Tromp - 1 for 4, RBI
Josh Tobias - 0 for 4, K
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 4, 2 K
Aaron Brown - 1 for 3, BB, K
Chace Numata - 1 for 4, K
Kyle Martin - 0 for 4, 2 K
Derek Campbell - 0 for 2, R, K, HBP (fielding error)
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 3, K
Drew Stankiewicz - 0 for 2, BB

Drew Anderson continues his comeback from TJS with a solid 2016 so far. He has 73 strikeouts in 64.1 IP across two levels of minor league ball. He's also limiting his free passes and base hits. He still hasn't crossed that 7 innings pitches threshold, but that may be more of a innings limit imposed on the 22 year old. The offense went 1 for 5 with RISP and left 5 on base.

Danny Zardon - 2 for 5, RBI
Jose Antequera - 1 for 4, R, K
Cole Stobbe - 3 for 7, 4 R, 2B, HR, 2 K, HBP
Daniel Garner - 0 for 1, R, BB
Nerluis Martinez - 0 for 2, K (throwing error)
Ben Pelletier - 0 for 4, RBI, 3 K

Daniel Brito and Cole Stobbe both hit their first professional homeruns in the 1st and 2nd game, respectively. Mauricio Llovera was dominant once again, improving to 6-1, lowering his ERA to 2.09 and only giving up 1 earned run in his last 4 starts. Jhailyn Ortiz stole his 6th base, just one away from his total HR output for the season.
