Today's Probables:

REA: Nick Pivetta
LWD: Seranthony Dominguez
WIL: Felix Paulino

Lehigh Valley 7, Scranton/WB 1

James Russell - 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, K, HR
Adam Morgan - 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, 6 K, HBP, 2 GB, 5 FB
J.P. Crawford - 1 for 2, 2 R, 2 BB
Nick Williams - 2 for 4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, K
Brock Stassi - 0 for 4
Jesmuel Valentin - 0 for 2, K

Nick Williams blasts his 11th dinger of the season and in my opinion just on the cusp of a promotion to the big leagues. Darin Ruf also homered in the game, his 15th this season at Lehigh Valley. That is 15 more than he had with the Phillies. J.P. Crawford closed the gap on his K/BB ratio and now has 62 strikeouts to 60 walks in 2016.

Bowie 5, Reading 2

Ricardo Pinto - 6 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, HR, 6 GB, 4 FB
Jimmy Cordero - 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER
Mario Hollands - 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, HBP
Alexis Rivero - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, K
Scott Kingery - 2 for 4, RBI, 2 K
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 4
Jorge Alfaro - 1 for 4
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 4, 3 K
Rhys Hoskins - 1 for 4, 2B, 2 K
Angelo Mora - 2 for 4, 2B, RBI, K (fielding error)

Ricardo Pinto has bounced back in a good way after a pretty horrendous June and July. His last two starts now he has gone 11 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 7 K. The walks are obviously still a huge concern and will be something he'll need to overcome before a promotion should even be considered. Scott Kingery just continues to hit and is 10 for 29 in his first 7 games. Dylan Cozens with the hat trick at the plate and now has 131 strikeouts on the season.

Fort Myers 11, Clearwater 6

Elniery Garcia - 4 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, HBP, 3 GB, 4 FB
Yacksel Rios - 1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, K
Joey Denato - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K
Jesen Therrien - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K
Victor Arano - 1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 2 K
Carlos Tocci - 2 for 3, RBI, BB
Josh Tobias - 3 for 4, 2 RBI (missed catch error)
Jiandido Tromp - 1 for 5, RBI, K
Mitch Walding - 0 for 5, 2 K (fielding error)
Chace Numata - 1 for 4, R, BB, K
Zach Green - 3 for 5, R, 2B, K
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 5, 3 K (outfield assist, 2B)
Malquin Canelo - 2 for 4, 2 R, RBI, BB, K (throwing error)
Herlis Rodriguez - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2B

Despite nearly out-hitting Fort Myers (15 to 14), Clearwater falls short thanks to some poor fielding. 6 of Fort Myers' 11 runs were unearned. Josh Tobias has been unfazed by the promotion to the Florida State League, going 11 for 23 in his first 6 games at the plate. Carlos Tocci improved his season line to .276/.330/.349 with 3 HR and 12 SB.

Lakewood 2, Greensboro 1

Alberto Tirado - 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, 9 K, 2 GB, 2 FB
Jeff Singer - 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 5 K
Sutter McLoughlin - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Grenny Cumana - 1 for 3, HBP
Cornelius Randolph - 1 for 4, K
Damek Tomscha - 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, K
Jose Pujols - 0 for 4, 2 K
Wilson Garcia - 1 for 4
Deivi Grullon - 0 for 2, BB, K, HBP
Jan Hernandez - 1 for 4, 2 K
Carlos Duran - 0 for 3, BB, K
Emmanuel Marrero - 1 for 3, R

Alberto Tirado has shockingly been since returning to Lakewood as a starter. His outing last night was his best as a professional as he put up a career-high 9 strikeouts. The stuff has always been there for Tirado, its just been a matter of throwing strikes and commanding his pitches. Then there is this Jeff Singer fella, who has done this: 27.2 IP, 11 H, 1 ER, 6 BB, 36 K. There really isn't a reason he should be in Lakewood anymore. Damek Tomscha was the lone offensive brightspot for the BlueClaws as he clubbed his 5th HR of the season.

Williamsport 3, Mahoning Valley 2

Ranger Suarez - 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 9 GB, 2 FB (throwing error)
Julian Garcia - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K
Alexander Kline - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
Jake Kelzer - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Mark Laird - 1 for 4, R, 2 K
Arquimedes Gamboa - 1 for 1, R, CS
Chandler Hall - 0 for 2, 2 K (fielding error)
David Martinelli - 0 for 4, R, 2 K
Darick Hall - 0 for 3, 2 K, HBP
Lucas Williams - 0 for 4
Henri Lartigue - 0 for 4, 3 K
Jesus Alastre - 1 for 4, R, K
Evan Rogers - 2 for 4, 2B, K
Juan Luis - 0 for 2
Luke Maglich - 1 for 1, SB

Minor league baseball can get quite weird sometimes. Like last night's Crosscutters where they scored all 3 of their runs in the first inning without collecting a hit or producing a walk. Mahoning Valley committed a staggering 5 errors and a double play in the 1st inning to allow all 3 runners to score. Baseball! The Williamsport offense struckout 13 times and went 1 for 7 with RISP overall. Ranger Suarez improved to 5-0 and lowered his ERA to 2.01.

GCL Phillies 5, GCL Yankees East 0

Nick Fanti - 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 8 K, 3 GB, 3 FB (fielding error)
Jairo Munoz - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K
Jordan Kurokawa - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Andrew Brown - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, K, 2 WP
Tyler Frohwirth - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Roman Quinn - 2 for 3, R, SB
Daniel Brito - 1 for 4, K, CS
Mickey Moniak - 1 for 3, 2 R, RBI, BB, 3 SB
Jhailyn Ortiz - 1 for 3, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K, SB, HBP
Danny Zardon - 0 for 3, K
Malvin Matos - 0 for 4
Nerluis Martinez - 1 for 2
Rodolfo Duran - 0 for 2, K
Cole Stobbe - 0 for 4 (throwing error)
Jose Antequera - 1 for 3, R

Nick Fanti just continues to make the GCL look silly. He has 47 strikeouts to just 5 walks in 32.2 innings pitched this season. The GCL Phillies probably have learned now that you can easily steal a base off Yankees minor league catcher Algeni Mateo. Mickey Moniak steals bases 5, 6 and 7. Roman Quinn for some reason is still in Clearwater and steals his 4th base. Jhailyn Ortiz steals his 4th base as well and is slowly closing in on his HR total (6).
