The rare organization clean-sweep! (minus the parent club of course)

Today's Probables:

LHV: David Buchanan
REA: Tom Eshelman
CLR: Elniery Garcia
LWD: Tyler Gilbert
WIL: Cole Irvin

Lehigh Valley 2, Pawtucket 0

Phil Klein - 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 9 K, 2 HBP, 4 GB, 6 FB
Cam Perkins - 1 for 4, CS
J.P. Crawford - 0 for 4, K
Nick Williams - 1 for 4, R, 2B, K
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 2, 2B, BB, K
Brock Stassi - 1 for 2, RBI, BB

The Legend of Phil Klein continues to grow. The 27 year old journeyman RHP has 71 strikeouts in 59.1 IP and has only given up 10 earned runs. Luis Garcia picked up his 12th save last night. Nick Williams has appeared to escape Dave Brundage's dungeon and got his 32nd double. Crawford's not-hot streak has him batting just .171 in his last 10 games.

Reading 7, Portland 6

John Richy - 4.1 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, HR, 4 GB, 4 FB
Alexis Rivero - 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, K
Jimmy Cordero - 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K, HBP (throwing error)
Victor Arano - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K (pickoff error)
Scott Kingery - 2 for 5, R, K
Jorge Alfaro - 3 for 5, HR, 2 RBI, K
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 5, 2 K
Rhys Hoskins - 1 for 3, 2 BB, picked off
Mitch Walding - 0 for 2, 2 R, 2 BB, K
Aaron Brown - 2 for 3, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI, BB

John Richy was not very good last night, giving up 5 earned runs in a start for the first time since a Reading start back on June 5th. The Fightin's were down 6-4 in the bottom of the 7th before Aaron Brown and Christian Marrero combined to plate 3 runs to put them back on top. Jorge Alfaro launched his 14th HR of the season and improved his season line to .285/.325/.453 in 386 at-bats. The talented catcher will be a lock for Lehigh Valley next season.

Clearwater 2, Brevard County 1 (GM 1 of doubleheader, completion of suspended 8/29 game)

Brandon Leibrandt - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Tommy Bergjans - 6.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, 5 K, HR
Tom Windle - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
Zack Coppola - 1 for 5, 2 K
Carlos Tocci - 2 for 5, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Chace Numata - 0 for 3, BB, K
Kyle Martin - 2 for 3, BB, K
Josh Tobias - 0 for 3, BB, 3 K
Jiandido Tromp - 0 for 4
Drew Stankiewicz - 0 for 3, BB, K
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 3, R, BB, K, SB
Austin Bossart - 1 for 4, R, K

Poor Brandon Leibrandt only gets to throw an inning of work before the weather ruins the field. Tommy Bergjans (of Carlos Ruiz trade fame) makes his Phillies debut and does quite well. In 130 innings he now has 133 strikeouts to only 29 walks. Carlos Tocci plated both runs in the game, a RBI-single in the 2nd and a RBI-double in the 4th. Malquin Canelo stole his 13th base last night.

Clearwater 3, Brevard County 2 (GM2 of doubleheader, 7 innings)

Austin Davis - 2.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 2 K, WP
Yacksel Rios - 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K, HBP
Ulises Joaquin - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, K
Zack Coppola - 1 for 4
Carlos Tocci - 2 for 3, R, 2B
Chace Numata - 2 for 4, R, 2B, RBI
Kyle Martin - 1 for 2, 3B, RBI, BB
Josh Tobias - 0 for 3, K
Jiandido Tromp - 1 for 3, R, 3B
Herlis Rodriguez - 0 for 3 (outfield assist, 3B)
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 2, 3B, RBI
Drew Stankiewicz - 0 for 3, K

Bullpen game! Rios gets the win and Joaquin earns his 10th save. Carlos Tocci hit his 25th double in this game, which is good for 3rd highest in the Florida State League. Scott Kingery amazingly holds onto the lead with 29, despite not having played for the Threshers in quite some time.

Lakewood 3, Kannapolis 2

Harold Arauz - 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 K, WP, 9 GB, 2 FB
Grant Dyer - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 K
Sutter McLoughlin - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Mark Laird - 2 for 4, R, K
Cornelius Randolph - 0 for 4, 2 K
Jose Pujols - 1 for 3, BB, K
Damek Tomscha - 1 for 3, R, BB
Wilson Garcia - 2 for 4, 2 RBI
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 4, RBI, K
Carlos Duran - 1 for 4, K
Emmanuel Marrero - 1 for 4, K
William Cuicas - 0 for 2, R, HBP

Hooray for Arauz! Make that 3 quality starts in a row for the much less talked about piece in the Ken Giles trade. In those 3 starts he has gone: 18 IP, 11 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 13 K. All positive developments for the 21 year old righty. Despite the 0fer last night, Cornelius Randolph is still hitting .326 in his last 10 games.

Williamsport 10, Mahoning Valley 3

Adonis Medina - 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, WP, 6 GB, 1 FB
Alexander Kline - 3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Jesus Alastre - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2B, K
Enmanuel Garcia - 2 for 5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI (outfield assist, 3B)
Brett Barbier - 2 for 5, R, 2B
Darick Hall - 1 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Lucas Williams - 2 for 3, 2 R, 2B, RBI, BB, SB (fielding error)
Chandler Hall - 1 for 3, 2 R, 2B, RBI, BB
Luis Encarnacion - 1 for 4, HR, 3 RBI, 3 K
Luis Espiritu - 1 for 4, K
Juan Luis - 0 for 4

Adonis Medina bounces back from a poor start last week to strikeout a season-high 7 batters. He didn't allow a leadoff runner to reach base all night. Enmanuel Garcia hit his 4th HR of the season, a 2-run shot in the 7th inning. Luis Encarnacion finally hits his 2nd HR of the year. It was a 3-run dinger in the 2nd inning to give the Crosscutters a sizable lead. Lucas Williams has a modest 3-game hitting streak and stole his 10th base in last night's contest.

GCL Phillies 5, GCL Yankees West 1

Alec Asher - 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, 4 K, HR, 2 GB, 2 FB
Luis Carrasco - 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K, 7 GB, 2 FB
Jordan Kurokawa - 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 K
Jose Nin - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Daniel Brito - 0 for 4
Josh Stephen - 1 for 4, R, 2B
Mickey Moniak - 1 for 4, R, K
Danny Zardon - 1 for 3, R, 2B, RBI, BB
Malvin Matos - 1 for 4, R, K
Jhailyn Ortiz - 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, K
Jose Antequera - 1 for 4, RBI
Cole Stobbe - 2 for 2, 2B, RBI, CS
Lenin Rodriguez - 0 for 2, BB

Alec Asher makes another rehab start and could be reassigned to Lehigh Valley soon enough. Luis Carrasco came on in relief of Asher and was dominant. Carrasco might be a little old for the league at 21, but this is his stateside debut and has 50 strikeouts to just 14 walks in 41.1 innings. Jhailyn Ortiz launches his 8th HR of the season, his first since back on August 11th. The GCL Phillies also clinched the Northwest Division title with the win and a GCL Blue Jays loss. It appears they will likely be squaring off against the GCL Braves, who sit at 28-28 with two games remaining. The contest between the Phils and Braves will be a 1-game elimination match.
