We’ve been waiting for some movement on the Freddy Galvis/Cesar Hernandez front all offseason, and today we finally got some. The Phillies are reportedly close to trading Freddy to the Padres.
The #Phillies and #Padres are in serious talks re. a deal that would send SS Freddy Galvis to San Diego. Close enough that deal could happen today.

So we’ve got “serious talks” and “deal could happen today.” Man your battle stations.
If this goes through, the Phillies will have checked off another important item from their offseason to do list: make room for J.P. Crawford to be a starter at his natural position. And it wasn’t going to be hard. Freddy played in all 162 games in 2017, and has proven himself to be a slick defenseman and a middling hitter. Guys with far less have succeeded far more.
We’ll keep you posted if there are more updates. Stay tuned!
UPDATE, 11:45 AM — We’ve got confirmation of that original tweet.
Can confirm @ScottMillerBbl report that the Phillies and Padres are nearing a deal to send Freddy Galvis to SD. Sounds like a Minor League pitcher is going back to Philly.

This is happening quickly!
