If this was a year ago, I’d say something like “Thank goodness the Rockies are coming to town, they suck so maybe the Phillies can catch a break.” Liz From A Year Ago clearly doesn’t know what’s happening now, which is the Rockies sitting atop the NL West with the second-best record in baseball. So the “catch a break” train has probably sailed. Or left the station. You know what I mean.
It’s not a secret that the Phillies need to catch a break. They need a win on the back of good hitting and competent pitching. A complete win where nothing was a mistake or an accident. These guys need confidence. And even though the Rockies are a tougher draw than they once were, maybe they can find it tonight.
I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of a Jeff Hoffman. He sounds like your elderly neighbor’s insurance agent.
Hopefully Jerad Eickhoff and the Phillies find what they’re looking for against the Rockies and the insurance agent who leads them on the mound tonight.
