Let’s make life difficult for the Cardinals.

Despite last night’s loss, the Cardinals are clearly struggling. They’ve recently rearranged their coaching staff, and Mike Matheny could end up fired if things don’t improve. It’s my hope that the Phillies could help contribute to that eventuality.

With the Phillies season almost officially in the proverbial dumpster, there’s one thing they can do: wreak havoc. Hand some competing teams a few unexpected losses. Make life a little difficult for them. The Nationals shouldn’t have it too easy, after all.

But today isn’t about the Nationals. It’s about beating the Cardinals! And let’s take a look a the lineup that’ll try to do it.

Today's Lineups

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES ST. LOUIS CARDINALS
Odubel Herrera - CF Matt Carpenter - 1B
Aaron Altherr - RF Dexter Fowler - CF
Howie Kendrick - LF Stephen Piscotty - RF
Tommy Joseph - 1B Jedd Gyorko - 3B
Maikel Franco - 3B Aledmys Diaz - SS
Andres Blanco - 2B Tommy Pham - LF
Cameron Rupp - C Kolten Wong - 2B
Freddy Galvis - SS Eric Fryer - C
Nick Pivetta - RHP Carlos Martinez - RHP

Can Nick Pivetta pitch more than five innings? That’s the question. Can the Phillies actually get a little offense today? That’s another question. We’ll just have to wait and find out.
