Game Thread 6/11: Phillies at Cardinals

The Cardinals have their brooms at the ready.

This series started out so optimistically. The Phillies weren’t an enormous disaster last week, and the Cardinals have been struggling. One of two things was going to happen. Either the Phillies would continue to do well, or the Cardinals would use the Phillies to get themselves back on track.

Yeah. They went with option number two.

But the whole story is yet to be written. The Phillies have a chance to avoid being swept and salvage at least one win from this miserable series with this miserable team that I still really hate.

Today's Lineups

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES ST. LOUIS CARDINALS
Odubel Herrera - CF Matt Carpenter - 1B
Daniel Nava - LF Dexter Fowler - CF
Howie Kendrick - 2B Stephen Piscotty - RF
Tommy Joseph - 1B Jedd Gyorko - 3B
Michael Saunders - RF Aledmys Diaz - SS
Maikel Franco - 3B Tommy Pham - LF
Andrew Knapp - C Kolten Wong - 2B
Freddy Galvis - SS Eric Fryer - C
Aaron Nola - RHP Adam Wainwright - RHP

Good news: Aaron Nola is starting today. Bad news: Howie Kendrick is our second baseman now that Cesar Hernandez is hitting the DL. More bad news: Adam Wainwright has a 2.85 lifetime ERA against the Phillies. So they have their work cut out for them today.
