Today’s Probables:
LHV: Jake Thompson
REA: Brandon Leibrandt
CLR: Edgar Garcia
LWD: Nick Fanti
Buffalo 4, Lehigh Valley 0
Mark Appel - 5.2 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, WP, 2 HBP, 6 GB, 4 FB
Ricardo Pinto - 2.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, K
Cam Perkins - 1 for 5, 2 K
Jorge Alfaro - 1 for 4, K
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 4, K
Rhys Hoskins - 0 for 3, BB, K
When you are behind the 8-ball already with Mark Appel pitching, the offense really has to deliver. They instead went 1 for 10 with RISP and left 10 on base. Mark Appel’s “hot streak” comes to an end. His previous 3 starts he combined for 17 innings of 8 hit, 2 run ball with 10 strikeouts. J.P. Crawford is noticeably absent from the lineup last night (insert joke about how he has been absent all season). I don’t think I’ve seen an official word yet as to a reason. In his last 25 games, Rhys Hoskins is slashing .213/.327/.382 with just 2 HR.
Reading 5, Bowie 4
Miguel Nunez - 4.2 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, HR, WP, 5 GB, 3 FB
Tom Windle - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, K
Shane Watson - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, K
Victor Arano - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Zach Coppola - 2 for 4, 2 R, BB, K, 3 SB
Scott Kingery - 1 for 4, BB, SB
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 4, RBI
Kyle Martin - 0 for 1, R, 3 BB
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, R, K
Mitch Walding - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 4, K
Not the ideal start for Miguel Nunez, but luckily the bullpen held strong. We even got an appearance from our old friend Tom Windle, who pitched for the first time since May 12th. With 3 steals yesterday, Zach Coppola has 15 on the season across two levels. The Fightins impressively win this despite being out-hit (6 to 10) and not having an extra base hit. Scott Kingery remains a bit lukewarm at the plate, hitting only .211 in his last 10.
Lakeland 5, Clearwater 1 (GM1 of DH, 7 innings)
Lakeland 1, Clearwater 0 (GM2 of DH, 7 innings, makeup of 6/13 ppd)

Jacob Waguespack - 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 4 K, WP, 6 GB, 2 FB
Mark Laird - 2 for 7, 2 K
Drew Stankiewicz - 0 for 6, BB, 2 K
Damek Tomscha - 0 for 3
Wilson Garcia - 2 for 5, BB
Cornelius Randolph - 0 for 2, BB, 2 K, SB
Deivi Grullon - 0 for 2, R, BB, K
Cord Sandberg - 1 for 5, 2B, BB, 2 K
Jose Pujols - 0 for 2, RBI, 2 K (fielding error)
Emmanuel Marrero - 0 for 6, 2 K
Herlis Rodriguez - 0 for 3
Jan Hernandez - 2 for 3
Austin Bossart - 0 for 2 (throwing error)
Grenny Cumana - 1 for 2, K, CS
The Threshers lose their 2nd double header in the last two weeks. Alberto Tirado was an absolute disaster on the mound yesterday, while his counterpart in the 2nd game actually fared pretty well! In his short time as a starter, Jacob Waguespack has compiled: 19 IP, 11 H, 2 ER, 3 BB and 17 K. The Clearwater offense was nowhere to be found yesterday afternoon, combining for just 8 hits and a lone Jose Pujols sac-fly RBI.
Lakewood 14, Delmarva 1
Bailey Falter - 5 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 6 K, WP, 5 GB, 1 FB
Tyler Hallead - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K, WP
Casey Brown - 2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K
Arquimedes Gamboa - 1 for 4, 2 R, 2 BB, K
Raul Rivas - 4 for 5, R, 2 RBI
Mickey Moniak - 4 for 5, R, 2B, BB
Darick Hall - 2 for 4, HR, 4 RBI, BB, K
Henri Lartigue - 1 for 5, R, BB, K
Brett Barbier - 1 for 6, HR, 2 RBI, 2 K
David Martinelli - 3 for 5, 2 R, K
Luke Williams - 3 for 4, 3 R, 2B, BB, SB
Carlos Duran - 2 for 5, 2 R, 3B, HR, 5 RBI
Bailey Falter gets win #3 with one of his more impressive starts of the season. His season line sits at: 59 IP, 61 H, 21 ER, 10 BB, 45 K. Everyone on offense got on the board last night. Hall (10), Barbier (2) and Duran (1) all hit one out. This was Hall’s 4th HR in his last 10 games and sits 3 off the league-lead. Mickey Moniak breaks out of his mini-funk with his first 4-hit game of his career.
