Nick Williams - 0 for 4, 3 K
The team is a little less exciting without Roman Quinn and J.P. Crawford in the lineup. Jake Thompson made it out of the first inning! His game-changing mistake came via a 3-run HR to former major leaguer Gregorio Petit in the 3rd inning. Jorge Alfaro hit is 5th HR, a two-run shot in the first inning. It was Alfaro’s 2nd HR in as many games.

Things weren’t looking great for Reading, heading into the top of the 9th facing a 6-2 deficit. However, the Fightins crushed 5 runs to take the lead. However (x2), Alexis Rivero blew it by allowing a lead-off single to come around to score. Comically, the winning run was able to get to third via two consecutive groundouts...then Rivero proceeds to load the bases on walks...and then walk a run in to tie the game. Veteran Nick Rickles broke the tie in the 13th inning with a sac-fly to score Mitch Walding.

Jan Hernandez - 1 for 3, R, 2 BB, K
Jose Pujols - 0 for 4, 3 K
Emmanuel Marrero - 1 for 4, R, 3B, RBI
Edgar Garcia started the game, but had to exit early because of a lengthy rain delay (fun Florida summer weather!). Our old friend Anthony Gose pitched in relief for Lakeland and recorded only one out before giving up 4 runs. With another disheartening day at the plate, Jose Pujols average now sits at .180 with 90 strikeouts in 183 at-bats.

Mickey Moniak - 2 for 4, 2 R, RBI, SB
Darick Hall - 1 for 4, RBI, K

Nick Fanti improves to 5-0 on the season and lowers his ERA to 2.25. The 20 year old also has 65 strikeouts to 16 walks in 64 innings. Brett Barbier hit his 3rd HR of the season and Moniak’s stolen base last night was his 6th.
