Phillies Minor League Roundup for 6/27

MLB: Spring Training-Minnesota Twins at Philadelphia Phillies Butch Dill-USA TODAY Sports

Today’s Probables:

LHV: Tom Eshelman
REA: TBD (12pm start on MiLB.tv)
CLR: Jacob Waguespack
LWD: Bailey Falter (11am start)
WIL: Julian Garcia
GCL: TBD

Pawtucket 14, Lehigh Valley 5

Cesar Ramos - 5 IP, 11 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 2 HR, 4 GB, 6 FB
Scott Kingery - 2 for 5, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 K
J.P. Crawford - 1 for 3, BB, CS (fielding error)
Jorge Alfaro - 0 for 4, K
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 4, HR, 2 K
Rhys Hoskins - 1 for 3, 3B, BB, K
Nick Williams - 1 for 4, 3 K
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 2, 2 R, BB, HBP

Red Sox hitters had a field day with IronPig pitching, combining for 20 hits and 5 walks. Things got so bad LHV had to bring in utility middle infielder Jorge Flores to close out the game. Anyway...that Scott Kingery character had himself a two-HR game, giving him 20 on the season across two levels. You can catch his second HR here. Not to be outdone, Dylan Cozens launched his 18th of the season. Cozens has back-to-back games with homers. Meanwhile, J.P. Crawford has reached base safely in 8 of his last 10 games (.256 avg), but has been caught stealing and committed errors in back-to-backs.

Harrisburg 4, Reading 3 (GM1 of DH, 7 innings)
Reading 4, Harrisburg 1 (GM2 of DH, 7 innings, makeup of 4/25 ppd)

Drew Anderson - 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 K, HR, 5 GB, 3 FB
John Richy - 4 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 K, HBP, 2 GB, 1 FB
Zach Coppola - 1 for 4, RBI (outfield assist, 2B)
Carlos Tocci - 3 for 7, 2B, 2 RBI
Kyle Martin - 1 for 3
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 5, R, BB, SB
Mitch Walding - 2 for 5, HR, 4 RBI, K
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 3, 2 K
Herlis Rodriguez - 0 for 5, K

Hey! Always a reason to celebrate when John Richy isn’t bad. Though Drew Anderson tied a personal season-high in walks last night, it was actually Austin Davis who gave up the winning run. Mitch Walding has been doing things lately, like hitting 5 homers in his past 10 games kinda things. He raised his SLG% to .556 on the season. Walding’s 18 HR ties him for the league-lead with recently promoted Scott Kingery.

Fort Myers 3, Clearwater 2

Jose Tavares - 6 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 5 K, 3 GB, 6 FB
Luke Leftwich - 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, K (pickoff error)
Tyler Gilbert - 1.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K, WP
Mark Laird - 2 for 4, K
Emmanuel Marrero - 0 for 3, RBI
Derek Campbell - 0 for 4, 2 K (fielding error)
Wilson Garcia - 2 for 4
Cornelius Randolph - 0 for 3, 3 K, SB, HBP
Deivi Grullon - 0 for 4, K (throwing error)
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 2, R, 2 BB
Jose Pujols - 1 for 4, 2B, RBI, 2 K
Grenny Cumana - 1 for 3, R, K

I can only imagine how good this Thresher team would be with consistent offense. Jose Tavares records his second scoreless start of the season (13 starts) and lowers his ERA to 2.33 (including a 71:20 strikeout to walk ratio in 81 innings). The Clearwater lineup went 0 for 4 with RISP and left 6 on base. Cornelius Randolph swipes his 4th base in addition to his hat-trick at the plate.

Greensboro 8, Lakewood 3

Nick Fanti - 5 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 K, 6 GB, 4 FB
Mauricio Llovera - 3 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 4 K, WP, HBP
Felix Paulino - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, K
Daniel Brito - 0 for 5
Arquimedes Gamboa - 0 for 5, K
Mickey Moniak - 3 for 5, HR, 2 K
Darick Hall - 2 for 4, 2 R, HBP
Henri Lartigue - 1 for 4, 2B, RBI, K
Edgar Cabral - 2 for 4, K
David Martinelli - 1 for 4, K
Luke Williams - 2 for 4, RBI, K (fielding error)
Carlos Duran - 1 for 4, K

Nick Fanti suffers his first loss of the season and first in which he has given up more than 4 runs in a start (12 starts). Mickey Moniak showing that power stroke, lifts his 3rd HR this year. Moniak is slashing .276/.329/.406 with 7 SB in 2017. It should be important to note that he just turned 19 on May 13th.

Adam Haseley - 3 for 4, R, 2B, K
Zach Green - 2 for 4, 2 HR, 3 RBI
Rafael Marchan - 0 for 2, K

Jesus Azuaje - 0 for 3 (fielding error)

Gulf Coast League baseball is back folks and we get out first appearance from Adam Haseley, our 2017 1st Round Pick. Not too shabby of a start either. He was joined by the familiar face Zach Green, who is rehabbing (isn’t he always?) back from injury. It seems like just yesterday he was setting homerun records in the NY/Penn League, but is now 23 and has yet to see AA ball. 2016 IFA Brayan Gonzalez also went deep in the first game.
