Jose Antequera - 1 for 3, R

Ranger Suarez made his long-awaited Florida State League debut last night. He wound up throwing 4 shutout innings with 57 of his 86 pitches for strikes. I’m still very much a Suarez skeptic, but as he climbs the organizational ladder and continues to succeed it’s hard not to come around on him a little. Also, perhaps we should start paying attention to Luke Leftwich, who has been pretty okay in relief this season after spending his first two pro seasons as a starter. So far he has racked up 63 strikeouts (to 16 walks) in 50.2 innings. The Threshers offense was able to provide adequate support despite being out-hit (5 to 4) and only having one extra base hit.

Greensboro 9, Lakewood 6

Bailey Falter - 4 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 4 ER, BB, K, 5 GB, 3 FB
Addison Russ - 2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, K
Tyler Hallead - 1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, HBP
Trevor Bettencourt - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
Arquimedes Gamboa - 1 for 5, HR, 2 RBI
Raul Rivas - 1 for 4, K
Mickey Moniak - 0 for 4 (outfield assist, home)
Darick Hall - 0 for 4, K (pickoff error)
Edgar Cabral - 2 for 4, HR
Henri Lartigue - 2 for 4, R
David Martinelli - 1 for 4, picked off
Luke Williams - 2 for 4, R, 2B
Jesus Alastre - 3 for 4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, K (outfield assist, home)

A rare sub-par start for Bailey Falter who has otherwise been very good this season. This was only his 3rd start this season, out of 15 total, in which he has given up more than 3 runs in a game. Perhaps even more disappointing were the two relievers behind him, who let the game get away even after the BlueClaws tied it with a 5-run 5th inning. Lakewood offense saw longballs last night from Cabral (2), Gamboa (2) and Alaste (1). It was the latter’s first professional homerun. Alastre started out in the VSL back in 2014 before making his stateside debut in 2015 with the GCL Phils. Mickey Moniak has entered a bit of a cold-streak, batting just .237 in his last 10 games.

GCL Phillies 7, GCL Tigers West 6

Seranthony Dominguez - 2.1 IP, 0 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, WP
Sandro Rosario - 4.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 2 WP
Aaron Brown - 0.1 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, K
Anton Kuznetsov - 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
Simon Muzziotti - 2 for 5, R, 3B, RBI
Jonathan Guzman - 1 for 5, 3B, RBI, K (fielding error)
Damek Tomscha - 3 for 5, 2 R, 2B
Quincy Nieporte - 2 for 4, 3B, HR, 2 RBI, HBP
Ben Pelletier - 2 for 4, HR, 2 RBI
Brayan Gonzalez - 0 for 3, R, BB, 2 SB
Yahir Gurrola - 0 for 4, K (fielding error)
Danny Mayer - 1 for 3, BB, 2 K
Kipp Moore - 2 for 4, R, 3B, RBI, K (passed ball)

80-grade name Seranthony Dominguez is back! It was reported his FB was up to 96 in the early part of the 1st inning. Just cross your fingers and hope all is well so we can see him back on the Threshers sooner than later. The GCL Phils did that weird thing and had more extra-base hits than singles in a game. Ben Pelletier hit his 2nd homer in as many days, giving him...two on the season. 2017 26th round pick Quincy Nieporte hit his 2nd HR of the season, which happened to be of the walk-off variety in the bottom of the 9th of a tie game.
