MLR 7/17/17: Lucky number Seven

New, comments
MLB: Spring Training-Philadelphia Phillies at Baltimore Orioles Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

LHV 8 - Gwinnett 4

Eshelman: 6 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB, 6 K, HR
Kingery: 1 for 5, RBI, 3 K
Crawford: 2 for 4, R, 2 RBI, HR, BB, K
Alfaro: 0 for 4
Cozens: 1 for 5, R, 4 K
Hoskins: 0 for 3, K, BB, throwing error
Pullin: 2 for 4, R, 2B, K

The Bullpen came through for the Pigs as did the Offense with runners in scoring position, where they went 4 for 10, scoring 8 of 10 baserunners.

Reading 11 - New Hampshire 4

Anderson: 6 IP, 2 H, R, ER, 3 BB, 5 K
Watson: IP, 2 H
Coppola: 1 for 4, 3 R, 2 BB, K, SB
Mora: 4 for 6, 2 R, 2B, RBI
Tocci: 2 for 5, R, 2 2B, 4 RBI, K
Walding: 1 for 5, RBI, BB, 2 K
Tromp: 1 for 4, R, RBI, BB, 2 K
Numata: 1 for 3, R, 3B, 2 RBI, 2 BB, K
Sandberg: 1 for 4, R, 2B, BB, K
Canelo: 1 for 5, R, 2B, K

What was it with opponents scoring 4 runs last night? Also, what was it with driving in baserunners efficiently? Reading drove in 11 of 19 runners, which is plenty efficient. Tocci stays hot and accounted for enough runs to win this game fairly single handedly.

Clearwater: postponed due to rain

Lakewood 1 - Charleston 0

Nick Fanti: 9 IP, 0 H, 12 K, BB
Brito: 0 for 3
Moniak: 0 for 3, 2 K
Hall: 0 for 3, K
Lartigue: 2 for 3, R, RBI, HR
Luke Williams: 0 for 2

This is Fanti’s second No Hitter of the year. He’s been a bit under the radar as a prospect and his stuff doesn’t suggest a very high ceiling, but he’s clearly crazy effective and probably overripe for a promotion to Clearwater. My favorite stat of this game is that this was essential Fanti/Latigue 1 - everyone else zippo. Not a single notable stat outside those 2 players.

Williamsport: postponed due to rain

GCL Yankees East 6 - GCL Phillies 5

Muzzioti: 1 for 5, 3B, 2 RBI, K
Gonzalez: 0 for 5, K
Guzman: 0 for 4, K, E
Nieporte: 2 for 4, R, 2B, K, E
Pelletier: 1 for 4, R, 3 K

A close fought game, but still a loss. No notable Pitching prospects in this game for the Phillies and most of their highly regarded prospects at this level had off nights (sans Nieporte, who seems immune to such things at this level).
