Phillies news & links — The Phillies are so hot right now

The Phillies are on fire, Jerad Eickhoff is as well, and Nick Williams is amazing.

MLB: Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Phillies have won two straight series and things are looking up! Players are back from the DL and the bats are on fire and it’s very strange and I’m scared please hold me.

The Phillies bats are on [fire emoji]

Manager Pete Mackanin had a few thoughts after Sunday’s win against the Brewers. This quote came from Ben Harris of MLB.com.

"My first year here as a coach was '09," Mackanin said. "In no way am I comparing ourselves to that team, but it was reminiscent the way we've been swinging the bats of us coming back and coming from behind and catching up and beating other teams."

He’s not saying the 2017 team is like the 2009 team at all (because boy is it not), but Ben did follow that quote with these impressive stats.

In the streak of five-plus-run outings entering Sunday, the Phillies posted the second-best batting average (.321), on-base percentage (.388), weighted on-base average (.376) and OPS (.897) in the Majors.

Guys, these are the Phillies from April. Remember them? It’s nice that they’ve come back to see us again! But forget the 2009 team, this Phillies squad has done something that hasn’t been done since before that.

First, that’s amazing. And second, that hasn’t been done since 2005!? Good lord.

Nick Williams is your new baseball boyfriend

Attention! Attention! Nick Williams has something he’d like to say!

And that thing? Is BOOM. Now THAT is oppo power.

The Bulldog is back

The Bulldog is Jerad Eickhoff, of course. He gave a great quote to Stephen Gross of the Morning Call.

“That’s the kind of command I want to have every time out,” Eickhoff said. “And when I was missing, I was just missing and I was able to adjust to it and throw it back in the zone, throw it out of the zone. It’s huge to set up my curveball and the slider as well.”

I just love him, guys, and I’m so glad he’s back.

The latest Phillies rumors are...

The most recent Phillies rumors are Pat Neshek based, of course. Ethan Witte wrote it up last night, and it has the Rays heavily scouting Neshek. Who could the Phillies hope to land from the Rays’ highly ranked minor league system? Read it to find out!

Do you like Sixto Sanchez? Buy a t-shirt!

John Stolnis just keeps the great Phillies designs coming. He’s got a new one for pitching prospect Sixto Sanchez, and it’s AMAZING.

And be sure to check out the rest of the great designs he’s got in the store.

Tweet of the day

Yesterday, the Nationals account tweeted this.

And the smartest person ever replied (or quote tweeted) with this.

Don’t ever forget, Nationals. You’ve never made it past the NLDS.
