Today’s Probables:
LHV: Mark Leiter
REA: Jose Tavares
CLR: Edgar Garcia
Lehigh Valley 5, Gwinnett 0
Scott Kingery - 2 for 4, R, K
J.P. Crawford - 0 for 1, R, 3 BB
Rhys Hoskins - 0 for 1, R, 3 BB
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 4, K
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 2, 2 K
Jake Thompson got the emergency callup for the Phillies game last night, so LHV went with a bullpen game. Yacksel Rios, Joey Denato, Michael Mariot, Pat Venditte and Pedro Beato combined for a 3-hit shutout. Brock Stassi provided all the offense in the game with a sac-fly RBI in the first inning and then followed it up with a grandslam in the 5th inning. Andrew Pullin’s struggles continue in AAA as he bats a paltry .209 in 110 at-bats. J.P. Crawford’s 3 walks last night brought his total on the season to 55, which is good for tops in the International League.
Altoona 2, Reading 1
Cole Irvin - 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 K, 8 GB, 5 FB
Alexis Rivero - 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 K, WP
Alberto Tirado - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, K
Zach Coppola - 1 for 4, R
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 4
Angelo Mora - 1 for 3, RBI, K (fielding error)
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 3
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 3, 2 K (fielding error)
Love to lose games having given up zero earned runs! Things didn’t start out well with Mitch Walding running into Chace Numata on an infield pop-up, injuring himself in the process. Walding would be charged with an error and had to leave the game. His replacement, Angelo Mora, would commit the error that lead to Irvin’s lone run in the 5th to tie the game. In the 7th it was a fielding error from Drew Stankiewicz and a wild pitch from Alexis Rivero that allowed the go-ahead run to score. The Reading offense was just 1 for 2 with RISP and left 2 on base.
Daytona 4, Clearwater 1 (GM1 of DH, 7 innings)
Daytona 6, Clearwater 1 (GM2 of DH, 7 innings, makeup of 7/17 ppd)
Jacob Waguespack - 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, WP, 4 GB, 1 FB

Zach Green - 3 for 5, 2B, BB, 2 K
Jose Pujols - 1 for 5, BB, 2 K
Grenny Cumana - 1 for 4, K
Deivi Grullon - 0 for 3, K
I’m not sure what else can be said about this doubleheader other than Clearwater has struggled mightily of late and have now lost 7 of their last 8 games. They are now 6 games behind in the standings and are looking less likely to make the playoffs as the summer goes on.
Charleston 7, Lakewood 4
Gustavo Armas - 3.2 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 2 BB, K, HR, 4 GB, 3 FB
Daniel Brito - 1 for 5, R, 2 K

Luke Williams - 0 for 2, 2 BB
Jesus Alastre - 1 for 3, K, HBP
Juan Luis - 2 for 4, HR, K (throwing error)
In his previous 4 starts Gustavo Armas had given up just 3 earned runs in 19.2 innings. Juan Luis hit his 3rd HR of the season last night. In the 8th inning, the Charleston pitcher actually hit two batters with the bases loaded to force in two runs.
Auburn 4, Williamsport 1
Andrew Brown - 6 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, HBP, 8 GB, 2 FB

Luis Encarnacion - 0 for 4, K
Rodolfo Duran - 1 for 3, 2B, BB
Austin Listi - 1 for 4, K
Andrew Brown took his 3rd loss of the season and the offense behind him was scarce as they went 1 for 12 with RISP and left 8 on. Greg Pickett’s RBI single in the first inning was the lone highlight.
