Game Thread 7/8: Padres at Phillies

Losing to the Padres puts things in perspective.

The Padres, baseball’s eternal try-hard punching bag, beat the Phillies last night.

It’s not like being beaten by the Padres is surprising, because the Phillies are hot vomit trash. But it certainly feels weird, right? We’ve surpassed the Padres as the crappy team that everyone is sure they’re going to beat. Will the Phillies ever win another series again? They will, but it feels very distant.

Today's Lineups

SAN DIEGO PADRES PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
Wil Myers - 1B Daniel Nava - LF
Manuel Margot - CF Freddy Galvis - SS
Jose Pirela - LF Nick Williams - RF
Hunter Renfroe - RF Tommy Joseph - 1B
Cory Spangenberg - 3B Maikel Franco - 3B
Erick Aybar - SS Andrew Knapp - C
Carlos Asuaje - 2B Odubel Herrera - CF
Austin Hedges - C Andres Blanco - 2B
Jhoulys Chacin - RHP Aaron Nola - RHP

We’ve got another Aaron Nola start today, and they’ve started to become very special. Watching him is fun, and it’s nice that we can expect reliably good pitching from at least one starter in the Phillies rotation.
