Game Thread 8/10: Mets at Phillies

Can the Phillies put a hurting on the Mets?

The Phillies playing the Mets is usually bad, and this time, it still is. But on the bright side, Jay Bruce isn’t there, and it’s not because the Phillies traded for him. I was worried for so, so long that the Phillies would get him, and we’d have to deal with Jay Bruce, Phillies outfielder. I don’t know if I could take that. Thankfully, the Indians have spared us from having to deal with that reality. They traded for Jay Bruce and only had to give up one guy because the Mets are stupid and wanted salary relief.

It feels good to know that the Phillies won’t have to deal with Jay Bruce, and neither will I, for the rest of this season. Behold, a Jay Bruce-free lineup!

Today's Lineups

NEW YORK METS PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
Curtis Granderson - RF Cesar Hernandez - 2B
Neil Walker - 3B Freddy Galvis - SS
Yoenis Cespedes - LF Odubel Herrera - CF
Michael Conforto - CF Maikel Franco - 3B
Wilmer Flores - 1B Nick Williams - RF
Jose Reyes - 2B Tommy Joseph - 1B
Travis d'Arnaud - C Rhys Hoskins - LF
Amed Rosario - SS Cameron Rupp - C
Jacob deGrom - RHP Vince Velasquez - RHP

And you know who IS in the lineup tonight?

::siren:: RHYS HOSKINS!!! ::siren::

Oh man, it’s really happening. He’s here! I don’t care that he’s in left field, he’s here and he’s starting! Now if only Pete Mackanin can get his head out of his butt and start Jorge Alfaro and banish Rupp to the bench, that’s a lineup I could get excited about.
