Padres 8, Phillies 4: But Hoskins and Alfaro Though

The Phils lost another late nighter in San Diego, but more importantly, the most recent call-ups each showed off their power. Jorge Alfaro hit his first career home run, and Rhys Hoskins followed up his two-HR day yesterday with his third today. Each was a two-shot.

The two home runs constituted the Phils only offensive production. Meanwhile, Mark Leiter Jr. allowed a whole pile of earned and unearned runs through various Padre machinations.

Jesen Therrien and Hoby Milner pitched reasonably well in relief of Leiter, but an 8-2 lead is a bit much to come back from.

Let’s not dwell on that, though. In fact, let’s just have another look at those bombs.

Yeah, that’s better.
