Today’s Probables:

LHV: Tom Eshelman
REA: Franklyn Kilome
CLR: McKenzie Mills
LWD: Luis Carrasco
WIL: Andrew Brown

Norfolk 2, Lehigh Valley 0 (August 15)

Ben Lively - 6.1 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 5 GB, 3 FB
Scott Kingery - 1 for 4, 2B, K
J.P. Crawford - 0 for 4, 2 K
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 4, K
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 3, K

Ben Lively bounces back from his 7 earned run start last week, but unfortunately takes the loss. The LHV offense went 0 for 1 with RISP and left 4 on base. Without Nick Williams, Rhys Hoskins and Jorge Alfaro the offense has struggled to generate runs despite the efforts of Kingery and Crawford at the top of the lineup.

Reading 4, Bowie 3 (August 15, 15 innings)

Elneiry Garcia - 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, K, 5 GB, 4 FB
Zach Coppola - 1 for 6, R, BB, SB
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 6, 4 K
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 6, R, 2B, K, HBP
Kyle Martin - 1 for 5, R, RBI, 2 BB, 2 K
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 7, RBI, 3 K
Deivi Grullon - 0 for 6, 3 K
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 6, 3 K

Elneiry Garcia makes his 2nd start for Reading this season, another which he gave up only 1 earned run. He threw 50 of his 76 pitches for strikes. After Tom Windle gave up 2 runs in the 6th, Austin Davis, Victor Arano, Ranfi Casimiro and Shane Watson combined for 8 shutout innings to seal the victory. After Zach Coppola singled to lead off the bottom of the 15th, Jiandido Tromp delivered a two-out walk-off single to win the game.

St. Lucie 12, Clearwater 7 (August 14)
St. Lucie 5, Clearwater 4 (August 15)

Seranthony Dominguez - 3.2 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 4 K, HR, 3 GB, 1 FB
JoJo Romero - 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, 8 K, HR, HBP, 6 GB, 4 FB
Jose Gomez - 0 for 7, K
Cornelius Randolph - 4 for 7, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB, K
Wilson Garcia - 5 for 8, 3 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI
Zach Green - 1 for 8, R, 4 K
Jose Pujols - 1 for 8, HR, 3 RBI, 6 K
Jan Hernandez - 2 for 4, HR, SB

So can Cornelius Randolph please keep this up? Because we kind of need this now. Since May 20th (fun with arbitrary sample sizes), he is batting .294/.384/.447 with 8 HR and 7 SB. That is 1st round pick level-production. Sure it isn’t the power you’d expect from your leftfielder, but damn isn’t that OBP nice.

Lakewood 2, Kannapolis 1 (August 15)

Bailey Falter - 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K, WP, HBP, 3 GB, 4 FB
Daniel Brito - 1 for 4, RBI
Adam Haseley - 1 for 3, RBI, BB, K
Mickey Moniak - 0 for 4, 3 K
Darick Hall - 0 for 4, 2 k
Austin Listi - 0 for 2, BB, K
Colby Fitch - 0 for 3, K
Arquimedes Gamboa - 1 for 3, R, K
Luke Williams - 1 for 3, SB
Jesus Alastre - 1 for 3, R

Perhaps not discussed enough is 20 year old lefty Bailey Falter who now holds a 3.12 ERA in 104 IP with 94 strikeouts to just 20 walks. He could be good! More importantly, Adam Haseley made his full-season ball debut last night as a designated hitter. His RBI single in the 3rd, gave Lakewood a 2-0 lead. Watch out Roman Quinn, Luke Williams has 25 steals this season.

NY/Penn South All-Stars 5, NY/Penn North All-Stars 2 (August 15)

Kyle Young - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Randy Alcantara - 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, HR
Luis Ramirez - 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K, HR
Jhailyn Ortiz - 0 for 2
Greg Pickett - 1 for 2, K

GCL Phillies 12, GCL Yankees West 0 (August 14 completion of 7/29 suspended game)
GCL Phillies 3, GCL Yankees West 1 (August 14, 7 innings)
GCL Phillies 3, GCL Yankees West 2 (August 15)
