Game Thread 8/16: Phillies at Padres

It’s a (late) afternoon delight. Sort of.

All right, cats and kittens, it’s the last game in San Diego! And we’re getting that rare 3:40 start. If you think about it, 3:40 is really a great time for an afternoon start. It’s comes just close enough to 5pm that you don’t feel too bad for shirking work to pay attention.

So, who do we have today?

I can’t fault Pete Mackanin for starting Cameron Rupp today. Jorge Alfaro played last night, and day-after-night starts are one of the reasons why you carry two catchers.

Disturbingly, Odubel Herrera is still sitting with a sore hamstring. Cam Perkins and Rhys Hoskins are guarding the corners with Nick Williams in center. Get well soon, Odubel. We miss you.
