Today’s Probables:

LHV: Jake Thompson
REA: Cole Irvin
CLR: Edgar Garcia
LWD: Mauricio Llovera
WIL: Kyle Young

Norfolk 2, Lehigh Valley 0 (11 innings)

Tom Eshelman - 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 3 K, 6 GB, 11 FB
Scott Kingery - 1 for 4, BB, K, CS
J.P. Crawford - 1 for 5, K
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 3, 2 BB, 2 K
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 5, K
Herlis Rodriguez - 2 for 4, 2B, SB
Angelo Mora - 0 for 3, 2 K

Aside from his 8 ER performance from a couple weeks ago, Tom Eshelman has been doing quite well in AAA. Thus far in his time with Lehigh Valley he has put up a 2.58 ERA/1.00 WHIP with 68 strikeouts to 12 walks in 101 innings. Our ambidextrous savior Pat Venditte took the loss last night, giving up a walk-off homerun. The offense went 0 for 9 with RISP and left 11 on base. Angelo Mora was back in AAA last night DHing.

Bowie 4, Reading 3

Franklyn Kilome - 7 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 2 HR, 9 GB, 4 FB
Garrett Cleavinger - 2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, K, WP
Zach Coppola - 0 for 4, K
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, R
Kyle Martin - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 4, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, K
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 3

No luck for Franklyn Kilome, who held a 3-2 lead when he exited the game. The lanky righty threw 67 of his 98 pitches for strikes with his fastball reportedly in the mid 90’s all night. Garrett Cleavinger gave up the tying and go-ahead runs in the top of the 9th inning. Jiandido Tromp provided his 15th HR of the season, a 2-run shot in the 2nd. In AA this season, Tromp has slashed .289/.336/.496 with the aforementioned 15 HR and 5 SB in 377 at-bats.

Clearwater 6, St. Lucie 4

McKenzie Mills - 4.2 IP, 11 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 7 K, HR, HBP, 3 GB, 2 FB
Seth McGarry - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Jose Gomez - 0 for 4, R, 2 K
Cornelius Randolph - 1 for 3, R, 2B, BB, 2 K
Zach Green - 1 for 2, R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, K
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, K (outfield assist, 2B)
Emmanuel Marrero - 1 for 3, HR (fielding error)

McKenzie Mills gets roughed up in the 5th inning, giving up 3 of his 4 earned runs before being relieved by Luke Leftwich. The Threshers offense wasn’t quite opportunistic (1 for 9 with RISP), but did strike for a 5-run 4th inning to give them a nice cushion. Seth McGarry held on for his 17th FSL save. Randolph’s double last night was his 17th of the season.

Kannapolis 5, Lakewood 1

Luis Carrasco - 5 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, HR, WP, 7 GB, 0 FB
Daniel Brito - 1 for 4, K
Adam Haseley - 1 for 4, 2 K
Mickey Moniak - 0 for 4
Darick Hall - 1 for 4, R, 2B, 2 K
Austin Listi - 0 for 4, 2 K
Gregori Rivero - 0 for 4, K (passed ball)
Arquimedes Gamboa - 0 for 3, 2 K
Luke Williams - 2 for 3, SB (throwing error)
Jesus Alastre - 1 for 3, K

Luis Carrasco fell to 0-2 with Lakewood after last night’s start. Mickey Moniak’s batting average fell to a season-low .243 with the 0fer night. He was hitting as high as .290 back on May 25th.

Auburn 5, Williamsport 1

Andrew Brown - 3.2 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, K, 8 GB, 1 FB
Nick Maton - 1 for 4 (fielding error)
Yahir Gurrola - 0 for 4, K
Jake Scheiner - 0 for 4, 3 K
Greg Pickett - 2 for 4, R, 2B
Jhailyn Ortiz - 2 for 3, BB
Cole Stobbe - 1 for 4, RBI, K
Josh Stephen - 1 for 4, K
Rodolfo Duran - 0 for 4, K
Malvin Matos - 0 for 2, 2 BB, K

Andrew Brown could not out-duel former Phillie Sean O’Sullivan, who was rehabbing last night (he went two scoreless innings). Perhaps the only two bright spots of the Crosscutters offense (now that Haseley is gone) were the only ones that reached base more than once. Greg Pickett is slashing .280/.345/.413 this season, while Jhailyn Ortiz is at .284/.398/.530.

GCL Phillies 5, GCL Blue Jays 4
