Game Thread 8/31: Phillies at Marlins

Is it safe to watch?

MLB: Philadelphia Phillies at Miami Marlins Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Good sweet mercy, yesterday was a really terrible baseball day. I mean, woof. WOOF. At least the second game wasn’t a huge disaster. At least they lost with dignity. At least no one got hurt in that second game. The first game, however, was not like that.

I don’t want to talk about it anymore! It was the worst and it’ll go down as one of the worst losses of the year, and we should all forget it happened.

Today's Lineups

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES MIAMI MARLINS
Cesar Hernandez - 2B Dee Gordon - 2B
Freddy Galvis - SS Giancarlo Stanton - RF
Nick Williams - RF Christian Yelich - CF
Rhys Hoskins - 1B Marcell Ozuna - LF
Daniel Nava - LF J.T. Realmuto - C
Maikel Franco - 3B Derek Dietrich - 3B
Pedro Florimon - CF Tyler Moore - 1B
Cameron Rupp - C Miguel Rojas - SS
Ben Lively - RHP Odrisamer Despaigne - RHP

I won’t ask you to get excited about Ben Lively. That’s too much to ask of any person. But Rhys Hoskins is at first base, and with JP Crawford (probably) coming up at the end of the week and Odubel Herrera and Aaron Altherr on their rehab assignments, let’s hope this starts the Great Phasing Out of Tommy Joseph. Let this be the day it begins, the day we’ll tell our children about as the start of a new and better era.

Or not. But let’s hope yes.
