Game Thread 8/6: Phillies at Rockies

Mercy, please.

Here I am again, wishing and hoping and begging the Phillies to avoid another sweep. Because they were swept by the Angels, and they’re nine innings away from being swept by the Rockies.

Luckily, the Phillies have one special weapon in their arsenal. A weapon they can only use once every five days.

Today's Lineups

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES COLORADO ROCKIES
Cesar Hernandez - 2B Charlie Blackmon - CF
Freddy Galvis - SS DJ LeMahieu - 2B
Daniel Nava - 1B Nolan Arenado - 3B
Nick Williams - RF Gerardo Parra - LF
Odubel Herrera - CF Mark Reynolds - 1B
Maikel Franco - 3B Carlos Gonzalez - RF
Hyun Soo Kim - LF Trevor Story - SS
Cameron Rupp - C Ryan Hanigan - C
Aaron Nola - RHP Jeff Hoffman - RHP

IT’S AARON NOLA! Aaron Nola could save us today. He could go seven or eight innings and give Luis Garcia a break. He could prevent the Rockies from scoring a bunch of runs, so if the bullpen gives up a run or two in the late innings, maybe it won’t matter.

Of course, that all depends on the offense. They haven’t had a problem getting hits this series, but they’ve had problems getting those runners to cross the plate. Or getting more runners to cross the plate than Colorado.

But you know what? It’s a Sunday in early August, and there’s baseball. There aren’t a lot of baseball Sundays left, so let’s appreciate them while we can.
