Today’s Probables:
LHV: Tom Eshelman
REA: Cole Irvin
CLR: JoJo Romero
LWD: Mauricio Llovera
WIL: Spencer Howard (on MiLB.tv tonight fyi)
Norfolk 7, Lehigh Valley 6
Brandon Leibrandt - 6 IP, 10 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 7 K, 3 HR, 2 GB, 6 FB
Scott Kingery - 1 for 5, R, 2 K
J.P. Crawford - 1 for 5, 3B, RBI, K
Rhys Hoskins - 1 for 5, HR
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 3, 2 R, BB, 2 K, HBP
Brandon Leibrandt took his first AAA loss and prior to this start had given up 8 total earned runs in 7 combined appearances. Rhys Hoskins with his first official HR as a left fielder; so surely the experiment is working just fine. It was his 28th of the season, which is a Lehigh Valley IronPigs record. J.P. Crawford laced his 6th triple of the season. Since July 1st, 20 of Crawford’s 36 hits have been for extra-bases. LHV’s comeback fell short as they picked up 4 of their runs in the final two innings.

Tyler Viza - 6 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 2 K, WP, 6 GB, 6 FB (pickoff error)
Garrett Cleavinger - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, K
Victor Arano - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K, WP
Austin Davis - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Zach Coppola - 1 for 5, R, BB

Kyle Martin - 3 for 5, 2 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI
Angelo Mora - 0 for 3, 2 BB, 2 K
Cord Sandberg - 3 for 5, 2B, RBI, K
A week after complaining about Kyle Martin batting cleanup all the time, he goes ahead and proves me wrong hitting a 3-run HR in the first inning (his 19th of the season). Martin is still quite bad, hence his .689 OPS while hitting half his time in Reading. The Fightins tied the game in the top of the 8th with a Cord Sandberg RBI-single with the bases loaded. In the top of the 10th, the newly back from the DL Chace Numata delivered the RBI-single for the go-ahead run.
Tampa 1, Clearwater 0
Seranthony Dominguez - 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 2 GB, 2 FB

Cornelius Randolph - 0 for 3, K, HBP
Zach Green - 1 for 4, K
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, BB, K
Jose Pujols - 0 for 4, 2 K
Seranthony Dominguez takes the loss while still on a strict pitch count. He threw 50 of his 76 pitches for strikes last night. Harold Arauz wound up pitching 4 innings of scoresless relief with 5 strikeouts. The offense behind them went 0 for 4 with RISP and left 8 on base.
West Virginia 2, Lakewood 1
Nick Fanti - 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 7 K, HBP, 4 GB, 1 FB

David Martinelli - 0 for 3
Luke Williams - 0 for 4, K
Jesus Alastre - 2 for 3, SB, CS
Hey Mickey, you used to be so fine last year, you’d blow my mind. What happened? The 2nd half slump continues for the 19 year old. Nick Fanti throws 5 effective innings, but leaves with a no-decision. Casey Brown closed out the final 3 innings of the game and took the loss. Brown is a native of South Jersey, please like him.
Staten Island 3, Williamsport 2
Kyle Young - 5.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 7 K, 6 GB, 1 FB
Nick Maton - 0 for 1, 3 BB, CS (fielding error)
Jake Scheiner - 2 for 4, K
Adam Haseley - 2 for 4, RBI, K
Greg Pickett - 1 for 4, HR, K
Jhailyn Ortiz - 0 for 4, 3 K
Cole Stobbe - 1 for 4, 3 K
Josh Stephen - 2 for 4, K
Rodolfo Duran - 0 for 4, K
Juan Luis - 0 for 4, 2 K
Kyle Young has been quite good, folks. He lowered his ERA to 1.81 and has 54 strikeouts to 11 walks in 44.2 innings this season. 2017 14th round pick Zach Warren took his 2nd loss of the season after 2017 18th round pick Damon Jones allowed his inherited runner to score in the bottom of the 9th. Adam Haseley is picking up right where he left off at the beginning of the season. His season line at Williamsport is up to .295/.374/.410 with 2 HR and 5 SB.
