Game Thread 9/14: Marlins at Phillies

Goodbye, Marlins.

MLB: Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

When this game ends, the Phillies will officially be done with the Marlins for 2017. Goodbye forever, Marlins! See you never! Or probably next year! Actually yes, we’ll see you next year, but after tonight, goodbye until then!

Not the same as goodbye forever, but you know what, I’ll take it? And if they also want to leave Giancarlo Stanton just sitting around, I think the Phillies can pick that up for them. Just leave him by the door and they’ll take care of him from there!

Today's Lineups

MIAMI MARLINS PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
Dee Gordon - 2B Cesar Hernandez - 2B
Ichiro Suzuki - CF Freddy Galvis - SS
J.T. Realmuto - C Odubel Herrera - CF
Justin Bour - 1B Rhys Hoskins - LF
Derek Dietrich - LF Nick Williams - RF
Brian Anderson - 3B Maikel Franco - 1B
Tyler Moore - RF J.P. Crawford - 3B
Miguel Rojas - SS Jorge Alfaro - C
Vance Worley - RHP Jake Thompson - RHP

This is certainly one way for Pete Mackanin to get J.P. Crawford, Rhys Hoskins, Makiel Franco, and Freddy Galvis, and Cesar Hernandez into a game together. Though if he just took out Freddy, everything would fall into place just a little more neatly. But asking for Freddy Galvis to not play shortstop is like asking for the moon these days. You can do it, but you’ll be disappointed with the results.
