Last night was no fun. A guy with a curly handlebar mustache pitched his first ever complete game shutout at any level of baseball, and the Phillies barely got on base the entire night.
But tonight, there can be no sadness. For tonight is Rhys Lightning Night!
You better believe I’m dancing around in my office right now. I have endless memories of this movie from childhood, and the whole song gets a whole lot more fun when you replace “greased” with “Rhys.” But seriously, who thought those guys could pass for high school students? There’s one guy who looks at least 35. And Jeff Conaway (RIP) was actually 28, but looked closer to 40. Literally everyone dancing on or near that car looks old enough to have a graduate degree.
I’ll say this about Pete Mackanin: he said he’d play J.P. Crawford and Jorge Alfaro, and that’s what he’s been doing. This has been the most fun month of the entire season, and it’s making me really sad that baseball is coming to an end.
