So tonight’s game will probably be a little awkward for Pete Mackanin, who is out of a job as of Sunday night. I’m a little amazed that he decided to manage the last three games, but he is taking a job with the front office next year. It’s not like he can pull a Ryne Sandberg and leave in a huff. So good on him for staying even though the Phillies clearly don’t want him around the young players anymore.
And now we’re at the last series of the season. And this season will end as the last several have ended: with the Phillies facing the Mets.
I wish I could say something like “it could be worse,” but could it? I don’t think so.
At least the Phillies get to face Matt Harvey. Maybe they’ll win!
