Game Thread 9/8: Phillies at Nationals

Someone is missing from today’s lineup.

Ladies and gentlemen, today’s lineup is how you know someone on the Phillies means business. It may be Matt Klentak, it could even be Pete Mackanin. But somene in there knows that starting all 162 games in a season isn’t realy that important in the grand scheme of things.

Today's Lineups

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES WASHINGTON NATIONALS
Cesar Hernandez - 2B Trea Turner - SS
Odubel Herrera - CF Howie Kendrick - LF
Rhys Hoskins - 1B Daniel Murphy - 2B
Nick Williams - RF Ryan Zimmerman - 1B
Maikel Franco - 3B Anthony Rendon - 3B
Hyun Soo Kim - LF Matt Wieters - C
Jorge Alfaro - C Michael Taylor - CF
J.P. Crawford - SS Alejandro De Aza - RF
Jake Thompson - RHP Max Scherzer - RHP

The dream of Freddy Galvis starting all 162 games is dead. Instead of Freddy, we’ve got J.P. Crawford starting at his natural position, presumably so Maikel Franco can get his first start in three days.

But that’s not all! Tommy Joseph, despite hitting a home run last night, is sitting today so Rhys Hoskins can start at first. And Jorge Alfaro is starting for the second night in a row.

This is starting to resemble a consequential lineup, folks. This is really something here.
