It was a day of nice news for the Phillies and Phillies fans, with Jim Thome and his 612 home runs officially heading to the Hall of Fame. He won’t be going in a Phillies uniform, but Philadelphia will always be a part of him.
But future Hall of Famer Jim Thome wasn’t the only former Phillies player spreading his delightfulness across the land on Wednesday. Chase Utley weighed in on JIM JAM’s Hall of Fame election. Using words! A bunch of them!
Chase Utley on Jim Thome being elected into the Baseball Hall Of Fame:

Chase Utley sure has become chatty since he left the Phillies, hasn’t he? It’s been a great experience to love Chase Utley from a distance instead of up close. And it feels like it’s set him free, too. I know that the longer Chase decides to play, the longer it’ll be before he shows up on that Hall of Fame ballot himself, but I think it’s worth the wait to watch the silver fox suit up for another season or two.
To switch to something completely unrelated to Jim Thome and the Hall of Fame, Cole Hamels was in Philadelphia on Wednesday night. And since he was in town, he decided to take in a local sporting event.

Well that’s just beyond lovely. The 2008 World Series MVP! It’s been almost ten years, and holy crap does Cole Hamels still look handsome. I mean good Lord, that guy is aging well. He’s gonna look even better when the Phillies sign him back in a few years.
Hey, I can dream, can’t I?
