Every offseason, the writers of the different websites from around SB Nation gather to simulate 4 months of activity in 4-5 days. It’s a fun exercise that I have been fortunate enough to take part in the last 2 years. You can read last year’s recap here, where I ended up with a team that could have done some damage this season....maybe.
This year, I have decided to take on an assistant GM. I need one of you, the readers, to join me on this quest as we embark on a journey to upgrade the roster as we see fit. I can tell you that it is a commitment - there are a lot of emails that go back and forth between the different writers involved. A LOT of emails. So, if you’re not able to be around your computer often during the first week(ish) of November, this may not be the exercise for you.
Therefore, for this week’s FanPost Friday, I am asking you to submit to me your “qualifications” to be my assistant GM in the simulation. Show me these qualifications in a FanPost, where you give me your top three goals for the Phillies’ management this winter and how they should go about upgrading this roster. It’s an application-esque process, so make sure that you’re writing as if you were writing to the actual general manager. Go the FanPost section (located here) and write down your ideas for a perfect offseason if you were drafted to be the Phillies GM. Everything is on the table, except for this stipulation: if your plan includes trading for Mike Trout, you’re automatically disqualified. Every year I’ve done this, the owner of the Angels states how Trout will not be traded. So, that’s automatically out. Once these are submitted, I will choose the person via email (include yours at the end of your post, please) if he/she has been chosen. We’ll go from there. Don’t bother trying to respond here in the comments; I’ve turned them off. Only those who write a FanPost will be considered.
Good luck and happy writing!
