RHP Ben Lively has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a lower back strain, the Phillies announced.
In a corresponding move, RHP Jake Thompson has been recalled from triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Lively started last night’s game and was hit hard by the Diamondbacks. He went just 2.1 innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out just one.

Thompson has started three games for the IronPigs, throwing ten total innings with a 10.80 ERA, seven walks and eight strikeouts. It seems as though he will come out of the bullpen for the Phils until Lively’s turn in the rotation comes up next week. At that point, we will either see Drew Hutchison get a start or someone will be called up from triple-A — presumably Zach Eflin.
In other minor league transaction news, RHP Seranthony Dominguez was promoted from Reading to Lehigh Valley.
Dominguez, the Phillies’ top relief prospect, has been stellar to start the season. In 13 innings of work he allowed just three earned runs and two walks while striking out 18. His fastball has consistently sat in the upper 90s and he’s regained control of his offspeed pitches after struggling following his injury last season.
