But can anyone really replace Rhys?

Baseball is unpredictable. That’s why no one knew that just two months into the 2018 season, Rhys Hoskins would foul a pitch off his own face and hit the disabled list with a broken jaw.

And because our beloved Rhys is on the DL, there must be a replacement. And we know who it is.

It’s NotRhys NotHoskins! I’m sorry, that’s not his name. It’s Dylan Cozens!

Cozens, who was drafted in the second round in 2012, has been on the radar for a few years now. Most people probably remember him from his 2016 campaign with the Double-A Reading Fightins, in which he thwacked 40 home runs and hit .276/.350/.591. Of course, he also had 186 strikeouts in 521 at-bats that year, which is a lot. Like, really a lot.

This year, Cozens is hitting .226/.325/.440 with 10 homers at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. It’s his second year in Triple-A, but this time he’s getting a call-up to the majors, which I’m sure makes 2018 better than 2017.

Cozens’ stats on their own wouldn’t have warranted a call-up, but if call-ups were based on social media posts, Cozens would have been in the majors last week.

LOLOLOL suck it Celtics fans. And also congratulations to Dylan Cozens on his call-up!
