Arrieta vs. Scherzer. This should be a barn burner.

MLB: Philadelphia Phillies at Washington Nationals Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

After they won on Saturday, the Phillies now have split their first series of the year against the Nationals. Can they escape with a series win? Let’s see what the lineup tells us.

I could talk about Rhys and his great game yesterday, or Odubel Herrera’s continuing on-base streak, or Maikel Franco’s hot bat (it’s so, so hot), but what this game is really about is Jake Arrieta facing Max Scherzer.

It’s been a long time since the Phillies have been able to provide a suitable opponent for Scherzer. Not that Aaron Nola isn’t amazing — he is — but it’s not the same. We’ve got established ace vs. established ace today, and that’s damn cool.

So go get ‘em, Jake. And discuss the game in the comments below.
