Gallery Photo: I Call You Out, Crazy Hot Dog Vendor: An Evening At The Ballpark With The Reading Fightins And My Camera

Weekend Probables:

LHV: Drew Anderson, TBD, TBD
REA: Franklyn Kilome, TBD, TBD
CLR: Bailey Falter, Mauricio Llovera, TBD
LWD: Spencer Howard, Damon Jones, David Parkinson
WIL: Francisco Morales, Manuel Silva, Juan Escorcia

Scranton/WB 3, Lehigh Valley 1

Cole Irvin - 7 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 K, 10 GB, 4 FB
Collin Cowgill - 3 for 5, HR
Joey Meneses - 3 for 4, 2B

Cole Irvin got approximately 7 hits in run support and as you can see above they mostly came from Meneses and Cowgill. Cowgill hit a solo HR in the 1st inning for the IronPigs only run, his 7th homer of the season. Cole Irvin took his 3rd loss of the season, falling to 8-3 with a 2.61 ERA.

Reading 9, Portland 1

JoJo Romero - 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, HR, HBP, 7 GB, 4 FB
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 4, 2 R, BB
Jan Hernandez - 1 for 2, R
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 2, R, BB, K
Austin Listi - 2 for 4, R, RBI, 2 K, HBP
Darick Hall - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, 3 RBI, BB
Zach Green - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 4 RBI, BB
Cornelius Randolph - 0 for 4, BB, K
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 4, RBI
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 4, 2B, K
Drew Stankiewicz - 0 for 4, 2 K

It’s safe to say JoJo Romero is back to where we expected him to be after a shaky start to the season. In his last 9 starts he has gone: 55.1 IP, 42 H, 20 ER, 19 BB, 58 K. For comparison, he gave up 34 hits and 21 earned runs in his first 26.1 innings. The Reading offense put a 5-spot in the 1st inning and never looked back. Zach Green hit a 2-run HR for his 12th of the season. He is still three homers away from tying Darick Hall for the organizational lead. Speaking of Hall, he extended his multi-game hitting streak to 5 games (he has a 7-game hitting streak overall). Jan Hernandez left the game in the bottom of the 2nd and was replaced by Cord Sandberg. Something certainly to keep an eye on as Hernandez’s bat has been good this season.

Clearwater 5, Dunedin 4

Connor Seabold - 7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 K, 7 GB, 2 FB
Arquimedes Gamboa - 0 for 4, 2 K
Adam Haseley - 2 for 4, 2 R, K, CS
Edgar Cabral - 2 for 4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K (passed ball)
Kyle Martin - 1 for 4, R, 2B, RBI, 2 K
Jose Pujols - 1 for 3, BB, K
Henri Lartigue - 2 for 3, R, RBI, BB
Luke Williams - 1 for 4, 3B, RBI
Grenny Cumana - 0 for 4
Jose Gomez - 1 for 3, 2 K

Connor Seabold followed up his 1-run complete game from last week with another above-average effort. His ERA sits at a season low 3.77. Things got dicey in the top of the 9th with a 5-2 Threshers lead. Newly promoted RP, Addison Russ gave up 2 runs to make it a one-run game. Aaron Brown had to be brought in to record the final out to close out the game.

Lakewood 8, Columbia 1

Kyle Young - 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, 5 K, 10 GB, 1 FB
Josh Stephen - 1 for 5, R, 2 K
Jhailyn Ortiz - 1 for 4, BB, SB
Jake Scheiner - 3 for 5, 3 R, 2B, RBI, 2 K
Colby Fitch - 1 for 4, 2 R, 2B, RBI, BB, 3 K
Rodolfo Duran - 3 for 5, 2B, 3B, HR, 3 RBI, K
Daniel Brito - 2 for 4, R, RBI, K
Quincy Nieporte - 3 for 5, 2 2B, RBI
Jose Antequera - 2 for 5 (fielding error)
Jesus Alastre - 0 for 4, K

Is there something in the water in Lakewood? There seems to be no stopping Lakewood pitching from flat out dominating the opposing lineup. Not only is the starting rotation limiting runs, they are inducing a seemingly staggering amount of ground-ball outs. Kyle Young with his performance last night improved to 2-3 with a 3.19 ERA. Rodolfo Duran’s 7th inning solo HR was his 8th of the season. With his 3-hit night, Jake Scheiner is now slashing .275/.326/.443 with 8 HR and 7 SB. Jhailyn Ortiz stole his 2nd base last night and it was also his 4th game this season in which he has walked and not struck out in the same game.

Batavia 6, Williamsport 5

Ethan Lindow - 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 5 K, WP, 5 GB, 2 FB
Matt Vierling - 3 for 5, R, RBI, K
Keudy Bocio - 2 for 4, RBI, K
Ben Pelletier - 0 for 1, R, 2 BB, K, HBP
Danny Mayer - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K
Brayan Gonzalez - 1 for 4, 2B, RBI, K (missed catch error)
Nerluis Martinez - 1 for 4, R, K, SB (passed ball)
Jonathan Guzman - 0 for 4, K
Jesus Henriquez - 1 for 4, R, K
Stoney O’Brien - 1 for 4, R, RBI, 2 K, SB

Ethan Lindow left the game with a 3-0 lead, which eventually became a 5-0 lead after the 6th inning. Unfortunately, relievers Oscar Marcelino, Jose Jimenez and Luis Ramirez combined to give up all 6 runs en route to the walk-off loss. In his first two starts, Lindow has given up 7 hits and 2 earned runs in 10 innings. With another multi-hit game, Matt Vierling is now 11 for 20 to start his professional career.
