Today’s Probables:
LHV: Drew Anderson
REA: Franklyn Kilome
CLR: TBD (10:35am start)
LWD: Will Stewart
Scranton/WB 3, Lehigh Valley 2
Cole Irvin - 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 6 K, 7 GB, 3 FB
Dean Anna - 1 for 3, BB, 2 K
Mitch Walding - 1 for 4, R, 2B, 2 K
Joey Meneses - 2 for 4, R, 2B, K
Trevor Plouffe - 1 for 3, RBI, BB, K
Danny Ortiz - 1 for 4, 2B, RBI
The last 3-4 years, a season like Cole Irvin is having likely gets him up to the big leagues by now. I’m sure Lehigh Valley doesn’t mind having a guy that can consistently go out there and be as effective as he has been. He doesn’t get the victory last night, but did lower his ERA to 2.54. The rare bad outing from Brandon Leibrandt is to blame as he gave up 2 runs in the top of the 8th to relinquish the 2-1 lead. For perspective, this was only 5th game in 18 appearances this season in which Leibrandt has given up a run.
Erie 4, Reading 1
JoJo Romero - 5 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, 2 WP, HBP, 7 GB, 1 FB
Pat Neshek - 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K
Jiandido Tromp - 1 for 4, 2 K
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 4
Austin Listi - 1 for 4, K
Darick Hall - 0 for 4, K
Zach Green - 1 for 2, HBP
Drew Stankiewicz - 1 for 1, HR
Cornelius Randolph - 0 for 4, 2 K
“Bad” JoJo Romero resurfaced after a run of 6-7 good to great starts. The walks are starting to become a bigger concern for the talented lefty. Pat Neshek made a stop in Reading on his rehab tour. The offense went 0 for 5 with RISP and left 5 on base. Zach Green was hit by a pitch in the 7th inning and had to leave the game. Drew Stankiewicz replaced him at 3rd and hit his 1st HR of the season in the bottom of the 9th.
Clearwater 4, Daytona 3 (11 innings)
Adonis Medina - 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 8 K, HR, WP, 2 HBP, 1 GB, 1 FB
Arquimedes Gamboa - 0 for 6, 3 K
Adam Haseley - 1 for 4, R, 3B, BB, K
Henri Lartigue - 2 for 5, R, RBI
Jose Pujols - 3 for 4, R, BB, K
Mickey Moniak - 1 for 5, 2 RBI, 2 K, CS
Kyle Martin - 0 for 5, 2 K
Luke Williams - 0 for 5, 2 k
Grenny Cumana - 3 for 5
Jose Gomez - 0 for 4, BB, K
While the high strikeout totals are nice, it wasn’t a particular effective outing for Adonis Medina. Medina’s ERA peaked back up to 4.16 after getting it down to under 4.00 (3.99 to be precise) since his first start of the season last week. Luckily, the bullpen combined for 7 shutout innings of 2-hit, 10 strikeout ball. Mickey Moniak had a huge 2-RBI single in the top of the 7th to tie the game at 3. Grenny Cumana played the hero in the top of the 11th with a single to score Raul Rivas, with a little help from a fielding error from the right fielder.
Lakewood, West Virginia (ppd due to inclement weather)
Mahoning Valley 8, Williamsport 2
Gustavo Armas - 4.1 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 K, HR, 7 GB, 3 FB
Matt Vierling - 0 for 4, CS
Keudy Bocio - 1 for 4, 2 SB
Alec Bohm - 0 for 1, BB, SB, HBP
Danny Mayer - 2 for 4, R, 2 K
Edwin Rodriguez - 2 for 4, R, K
Seth Lancaster - 1 for 4, 2B, RBI
Jonathan Guzman - 0 for 3, RBI, 2 K
Nerluis Martinez - 0 for 3
Jesus Henriquez - 1 for 3, K
Scary moment as Alec Bohm gets drilled in the back with a wild pitch and had to exit the game. Let’s all cross our fingers that this was an entirely precautionary removal. Otherwise, this game was quite uneventful. The offense was 1 for 7 with RISP and Gustavo Armas follows his 7-inning 0-run performance last week with a clunker. Matt Vierling’s 8-game hitting streak came to an end.

Jake Holmes - 1 for 4, RBI, K
Ben Aklinski - 2 for 3, R, BB
