The Phillies aren’t picking for a while yet, but there’s a lot of talent still on the board, including guys I thought might go top 20. They’re going to have to fall 29 spots to get to the Phillies, but there is a lot of quality still out there. I’m popping an asterisk after a few names in the list below since I assume they dropped because they’re unsignable. In no particular order the best available:
- Kumar Rocker, RHP - High School (HS)*
- Cole Wilcox, RHP - HS*
- Tristan Beck, RHP - Stanford
- Mike Siani, OF - High School (Philly)
- Adam Kloffenstein, RHP - HS*
- Blaine Knight, RHP - Arkansas
- Tristan Pompey, OF - Kentucky
- Nander de Sedas, SS - HS
- Konnor Pilkington, LHP - Mississippi State
- Matt Mercer, RHP - Oregon
- Luken Baker, 1B - TCU
A few notes on players listed above- Matt Mercer is a possible high leverage relief arm, from an area the Phillies scout strongly. Pompey has plus raw power, but has never gotten to it in game, needs swing overhaul. Beck has medical red flags galore, but also mid-rotation stuff, he’d have been a top 20 pick minus the medicals.
