Rhys Hoskins is going to participate in MLB’s Home Run Derby at the All Star Game next week in Washington, DC! This is great news, right?
Amazingly, some people are worried going to the Derby is going to mess up Hoskins’ swing. Don’t do it, they say, he’ll be broken for the second half of the season. Recent articles have done a good job debunking that myth, yet they persist.
On Episode 199 of Hittin’ Season, host John Stolnis is joined by this website’s assistant managing editor Justin Klugh to talk about these worries, Aaron Nola making the All-Star team, and answer a slew of mailbag questions related to the Phils.
These were the tweets used this week (I apologize if we weren’t able to get your tweet on, but I may use these tweets as ideas for written pieces and other podcasts moving forward).
Hoskins hasn’t hit a dinger in 11 games is he about to go into another power slump and is this who he is streaky home run hitter?— Shiner (@herefortheb33r) July 12, 2018
If we go get Manny Machado either in the offseason or at the TDL, what is Scott Kingery's long term position outlook? Does he stay at SS, change positions, or does someone else get moved (ie Franco, Hernandez, Crawford, etc)?— Joe (Fly Guys) Plaza (@jeplaza14) July 12, 2018
Can you trust Franco's surge? Is this another hot streak or did he finally figure it out? Also, is Kingery/Crawford at SS good enough to make the playoffs? They are a combined black hole offensively— Dale Cooke (@DaleACooke) July 12, 2018
One game playoff, who do you pick to start: 97 Schilling, 08 Hamels, 2011 Doc, 2018 Nola? Also, can you start adding HS episodes to Google Play again?— Rob Falcone (@justfingdemo) July 12, 2018
I’ve got two!— Matt Wilcox (@mattywils) July 12, 2018
1) Are there any guys in the starting lineup that could have their spots threatened by a trade deadline pickup?
2) Which player currently on the team is the safest jersey purchase?
