Game Thread 7/29: Phillies at Reds

Let’s get a split. Of champagne. And also the series.

MLB: Philadelphia Phillies at Cincinnati Reds David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

The last two games have been deeply unpleasant. But today, the Phillies have a chance to split their series with the going nowhere Reds. A win would let them leave with dignity. A loss would... actually, let’s not think about it.

Uh, well, this is certainly a lineup. We’ve got Asdrubal Cabrera at second base and hitting second, and actual second baseman Scott Kingery is at shortstop because Gabe Kapler is trying to drive me insane. Asdrubal Cabrera can play shortstop, so why isn’t he? Scott Kingery is a natural second basema, so why isn’t he playing there?!

I don’t know anymore. If they win, then that’s great. But if Cesar Hernandez isn’t playing, can’t we get the young second baseman some reps at his actual position?

I guess not! Anyway, discuss the game in the comments below.
