Lehigh Valley 5, Syracuse 2 (F/8)
Enyel De Los Santos - 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, BB, 2 K
Colin Cowgill: 2-4, 2 R, HR, RBI
Mitch Walding - 2-3, R, RBI, BB, K
Trevor Plouffe - 2-4, R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, 2 K
Damek Tomscha - 0-3, K
A rain shortened affair for the Iron Pigs, and another strong night for Enyel De Los Santos. He threw 57 of his 77 pitches for strikes, an efficient evening over six innings. Tyler Gilbert picked up the save. Plouffe’s two-run homer in the 5th inning gave Lehigh Valley a bit of breathing room before the rains came in the 8th.
Reading 13, New Hampshire 3
Harold Arauz - 5.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 K
Jiandido Tromp - 2-4, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI, 2 BB
Cornelius Randolph - 3-5, R, 2B, BB
Austin Listi - 2-6, R, 2 K
Zach Green - 2-4, 3 R, 3B, HR, 3 RBI, K
Jan Hernandez - 3-5, 2 R, RBI, BB
Deivi Grullon - 3-5, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI
A grand slam for Jiandido Tromp, and three-run blasts for Zach Green and Deivi Grullon made it a true offensive explosion for Reading. Darick Hall and Drew Stankiewicz were the only starters who didn’t pick up a hit in the game. Arauz threw 63 of 87 pitches for strikes, as he continues to be relatively consistent in the Reading rotation.
Clearwater vs. Tampa PPD
Greensboro 5, Lakewood 4
Spencer Howard - 5.0 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 5 BB, 4 K
Simon Muzziotti - 1-4, RBI, 2 K
Nick Maton - 1-5, R, HR, RBI, 3 K
Jhailyn Ortiz - 1-5, 3 K
Daniel Brito - 2-4, 2 R
Matt Vierling - 0-3
Howard’s five walks were his most in any start this season, as he struggled to get the ball over the plate all night long. This was coming off his best start of the year, a 6-inning, 10-strikeout performance last time out, so it was disappointing that he wasn’t able to build off that. The lineup had quite the messy evening, striking out 13 times overall.
West Virginia 3, Williamsport 2
Ethan Lindow - 5.1 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 5 K
Jonathan Guzman - 0-2, R, BB, K
Rafael Marchan - 1-3, R
Alec Bohm - 1-4, 2 K
Ben Pelletier - 0-4, RBI
Danny Mayer - 1-3, RBI, K
Matt Kroon - 0-1, 3 BB, K
Well, outside of Howard’s control issues no issues for anyone else tonight, as De Los Santos, Arauz and Lindow combine for just a lone walk on the evening. Not much offense to speak of in this one, as the Cutters get just two runs and see the bullpen falter late.
