Phillies Minor League Roundup for 7/31/18

Today’s Probables:

LHV: GM1 Cole Irvin, GM2 TBD
REA: Connor Seabold
CLR: McKenzie Mills
LWD: Damon Jones
WIL: Francisco Morales

Lehigh Valley 11, Buffalo 8

Ranger Suarez - 4.1 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, HR, HBP, 7 GB, 2 FB
Jesmuel Valentin - 1 for 5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB, K (throwing error)
Mitch Walding - 3 for 4, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI, BB
Joey Meneses - 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K
Aaron Altherr - 2 for 5, RBI, K

Dingers! The offense gave Ranger Suarez a bunch of runs in an otherwise disappointing outing for the lefty. Mitch Walding remains red hot, swatting HR #19. He has 6 homers in his last 10 games. Logan Moore (2), Jesmuel Valentin (2) and Joey Meneses (19) also added to barrage.

Trenton 3, Reading 2

Harold Arauz - 5 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 9 K, 4 GB, 1 FB
Adam Haseley - 1 for 4, CS
Cornelius Randolph - 0 for 4, K
Darick Hall - 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI
Austin Listi - 1 for 3, BB
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 4, 4 K
Deivi Grullon - 0 for 3, 3 K
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 3

Harold Arauz got early run support from Darick Hall’s 11th HR of the season, a 2-run shot in the first inning. That was Hall’s 22nd HR of the year across two-levels and is just 7 away from tying his career-high from last season. Austin Listi is in a bit of a slump of late, hitting just .250 in his last 10 games.

Clearwater 4, Tampa 2

Mauricio Llovera - 6.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 10 K, 4 GB, 6 FB
Arquimedes Gamboa - 0 for 5, 2 K
Mickey Moniak - 3 for 4, R, 3 2B
Henri Lartigue - 0 for 4, 2 K
Jose Pujols - 2 for 4, 2 2B, RBI, K
Edgar Cabral - 1 for 3, R, BB
Luke Williams - 1 for 3, R, BB, K
Kevin Markham - 1 for 3, R, 2 RBI, SB
Jose Gomez - 1 for 4, RBI, 2 K, CS

Mauricio Llovera took a no-hitter into the 7th inning last night before giving up a 2-out single to score a run. Jonathan Hennigan came on in relief and let an inherited runner to score to cap things off. Mickey Moniak with a big day with his 18th, 19th and 20th doubles of the season. He’s hitting .342 in his last 10 games.

Lakewood 3, Delmarva 1

Spencer Howard - 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K, 2 GB, 3 FB
Matt Vierling - 1 for 5, RBI, 2 K
Simon Muzziotti - 1 for 5, 2B, K (outfield assist, 2B)
Jake Scheiner - 0 for 2, BB, SB
Josh Stephen - 1 for 1, 2B
Jhailyn Ortiz - 0 for 4, 2 K
Rodolfo Duran - 0 for 1, R, 3 BB (passed ball)
Nick Maton - 1 for 2, R, BB, K
Dalton Guthrie - 1 for 3, 2B, 2 RBI
Jose Antequera - 1 for 2, 2 BB, 2 CS

Spencer Howard was doing quite well, but got lifted from the game early. Let’s hope that it was just because he threw 75 pitches in 3 innings. Also leaving the game early was Jake Scheiner, who was replaced by Josh Stephen in LF.

Mahoning Valley 7, Williamsport 2

Ethan Lindow - 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 8 K, HR, WP, HBP, 4 GB, 3 FB
Ben Aklinski - 1 for 4, R
Rafael Marchan - 2 for 4, K
Madison Stokes - 1 for 4, HR (fielding error)
Edwin Rodriguez - 1 for 4, RBI, K
Ben Pelletier - 0 for 3, BB, K
Danny Mayer - 1 for 3, K, HBP
Jonathan Guzman - 0 for 4, K
Jesse Wilkening - 0 for 3 (two throwing errors)
Matt Kroon - 1 for 3, K

Ethan Lindow was quite good last night! The bullpen and defense...not so much! The 19 year old lefty has been great this year for Williamsport. He has a 2.51 ERA in 43 IP with 37 strikeouts to just 11 walks. Opponents are averaging only .242 against him. Madison Stokes (2018 10th Round Pick) has been doing as well as a 22 year old in the NY/Penn League should be doing, slashing .361/.465/.542 in 72 at-bats.
