Phillies Minor League Roundup for 8/27/18

Crawford
Crawford
Eliot and Katrina Swartz

Scranton/WB 9, Lehigh Valley 8 (10 innings)

Drew Anderson - 5 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, HR, 2 HBP, 4 GB, 2 FB
J.P. Crawford - 2 for 5, 3B, HR, 2 RBI, K
Aaron Altherr - 0 for 4, R, BB, K (outfield assist, 3B)
Joey Meneses - 3 for 4, R, 2 2B, RBI
Mitch Walding - 0 for 1, R, K
Dylan Cozens - 2 for 5, R, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 K
Zach Green - 0 for 5, 4 K

Drew Anderson has himself his first bad outing since early July, but winds up with the no-decision. Austin Davis gave up the tying run to force extra innings in his first rehab appearance since hitting the DL. Our old pal Mark Leiter gave up 3 runs in the top of the 9th. The Ironpigs scored 2 in the bottom of the inning, but obviously fell short. J.P. Crawford hit his 1st AAA homer and triple of the season. He is 5 for 13 in his last 3 games.

Reading 7, Richmond 0

Tyler Viza - 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 11 K, 5 GB, 4 FB
Austin Listi - 3 for 4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB
Darick Hall - 1 for 4, HR, K
Jose Pujols - 1 for 4, BB, 2 K
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 3, R, BB, 2 K

I don’t know what got into Tyler Viza last night, but we could certainly use more of that. The 23 year old righty hasn’t had a double-digit strikeout game since May 2016. Austin Listi remains red hot at the plate, batting .419 in his last 31 at-bats. Darick Hall hit his 14th AA HR last night and 25th overall across two levels.

Clearwater 6, Jupiter 0

Ramon Rosso - 6 IP, 6 H, 0 R, BB, 9 K, 5 GB, 1 FB
Daniel Brito - 2 for 5, 2 R, K
Arquimedes Gamboa - 2 for 4, 2 R, BB, 2 K
Mickey Moniak - 1 for 4, R, BB, K
Henri Lartigue - 2 for 4, R, 2 RBI
Luke Williams - 1 for 4, K

Ramon Rosso’s impressive season continues with his 6th win at Clearwater. Across two levels this season he owns a 2.09 ERA with 136 strikeouts to 40 walks in 120.1 innings pitched. The Clearwater Threshers offense compiled 10 hits in the game, all singles. Daniel Brito has been swinging the bat well lately, hitting .303 in his last 10 games.

Lakewood 2, Greensboro 1

Will Stewart - 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K, 4 GB, 1 FB
Matt Vierling - 0 for 3, 2 BB, K, SB (outfield assist, 2B)
Simon Muzziotti - 0 for 3, BB, HBP
Jake Scheiner - 2 for 4, R, 3B, BB
Rodolfo Duran - 1 for 5, RBI, 2 K
Jhailyn Ortiz - 1 for 3, BB, K, HBP
Nick Maton - 1 for 4, R, BB, 2 K
Madison Stokes - 0 for 4, 2 K, HBP
Colby Fitch - 1 for 4, K
Jose Antequera - 1 for 2, RBI, K

Will Stewart curiously came out of the game early. As he sits at 113.2 IP on the season, perhaps they are going to start limiting his pitches down the stretch in preparation for the South Atlantic League playoffs. Jose Antequera broke the 1-1 tie in the top of the 8th inning with a RBI sac-fly. Jake Scheiner’s season line improved to .299/.370/.480 with another multi-hit night.

Mahoning Valley 4, Williamsport 1

Francisco Morales - 4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, HBP, 4 GB, 3 FB
Rafael Marchan - 1 for 4, K
Ben Aklinski - 1 for 4, R, 2B, 2 K
Alec Bohm - 1 for 3, RBI, HBP
Edwin Rodriguez - 0 for 3, BB, 3 K
Ben Pelletier - 0 for 4, 2 K
Brayan Gonzalez - 0 for 3, K
Jesus Henriquez - 0 for 3, K
Seth Lancaster - 0 for 3, 2 K
Keudy Bocio - 1 for 3, K

Francisco Morales couldn’t quite build on his 6 inning, 1 run, 11 strikeout performance from last week. He instead picked up his 4th loss of the season, but saw his ERA drop to 5.36 (it’s been that kind of season for Morales). The offense only put together 4 hits and were 1 for 4 with RISP. Alec Bohm is now on a 4-game hitting streak in which he is 6 for 16 with 4 RBIs.
