Well, gang. This is about it. The Phillies begin a four-game fight for their season against the team that stands in their way. The Braves have a lead the number of which is inconsequential; it’s large enough that the Phillies need to take at least three of these games, but should probably just take four if they’re feeling that squirrelly.
Vince Velasquez gets the ball for game one, and the offense needs to find a way to come through similarly to how it did to get the Phillies two straight series wins leading up to today. Is there a reason the Phillies are this point? Yes. Is the reason that they looked utterly outmatched by every opponent, from the good to the awful, over the past month and a half? Yes. Rhys Hoskins says that now, the Phillies fate is in their own hands. That’s... not exactly true, but by the end of the weekend, we’ll know how they did.
