On Episode 28 of “Continued Success,” hosts Justin Klugh and Liz Roscher remember the night the 1993 Phillies clinched the NL East against the Pirates in Pittsburgh (shoutout to Donn Pall!), and the day the 2008 Phils clinched the division title on that spectacular double play (Rollins-to-Utley-Howard, baby!).
For a while there, it seemed as though the 2018 Phillies were going to be able to clinch something. For a while there, it seemed as though we were going to get the surprise of our lives and watch this year’s crop of Phillies jump up and down near the pitcher’s mound or around home plate or somewhere on the diamond to celebrate either a National League East division title or a wild card berth.
Instead, we got a team that has lost 31 out of its last 46 games and could very well finish the season with less than 80 wins.
So let’s forget about all that for an hour. Let’s forget about all the pain and hardship that these last seven weeks have forced us to endure. Let’s go back and remember the 25th anniversary of the 1993 Phillies winning the National League East.
And let’s remember the 10th anniversary of the ‘08 squad doing the same.
Join Justin & Liz on this week’s episode of “Continued Success” as they talk about what they were doing when those monumental moments occurred. And, in the comments section, chime in with your own memories of what YOU were doing when these big moments in franchise history happened!
