That sure was an exciting Eagles game. I know this is a Phillies site, not BGN, but who among us wasn’t watching that game? Well, with that game out of the way, it’s another week of waiting for MacHarper to sign because let’s face it - everybody, major league teams alike, are waiting for that shoe to drop. On to the links!
Here at The Good Phight:
- Paul Boye started off the weekend by taking a look at how the bullpen job is shaping up for 2019.
- Justin took a look at several players who survived ten years playing in the city of Philadelphia and what it took to do so.
- The Smarty Jones prophesies that when (if?) the Eagles finally lose in the playoffs, that is when the big boys will come to Philadelphia.
Other Phillies news:
- Ken Rosenthal ($) wonders if it’s possible that if the Phillies lose out on MacHarper, could they turn around, sign Craig Kimbrel and have a super bullpen?
- This is a little older, but Matt Winkelman talks about how the offseason is showing the confidence the Phillies have in their two young pitchers.
- I missed this the other day, but the team looks like they are bringing back the old school “P” on the hats next year. I wonder what uniforms they’ll bring back with them.
MLB esoterica:
- The Yankees signed Zach Britton this weekend, strengthening their own bullpen. It also doesn’t look like they are done adding to that bullpen either. I’m beginning to really wonder if they are going to sign Machado at all. According to Roster Resource, they currently sit around $201 million, near the luxury tax threshold. Signing Adam Ottavino and Machado would cause them to skyrocket past that number, perhaps to the point where they incur the same penalties the Red Sox just had. Do they want to do that?
- The Mets were busy, trading for Keon Broxton and J.D. Davis and trading away Kevin Plawecki. The Davis trade doesn’t look so hot, but they other trades aren’t bad. It’s odd that they have someone acting competently in the general manager’s office.
Until next time...
