Halloween is almost here! It’s the most frightening day of the year (except for those days when the Phillies’ bullpen attempts to protect a one-run lead, am I right?), and to celebrate, let’s take a look at what some members of the Phillies organization will be dressed up as this year.
John Middleton: T-Rex - He’ll spend a lot of money on an elaborate mechanical T-Rex costume that comes complete with an engineer to control it. However, Middleton will grow increasingly impatient with the engineer, and ultimately decide to just run it himself.
Aaron Nola: Black Panther - It’s the same costume he wore in 2018, and while it still looks pretty good, it was far more impressive last year.
Nick Pivetta: Ghost - There was so much talk about how his costume was going to be amazing this year, but it ends up being a huge disappointment.
Bryce Harper: Pirate - It’s a pretty good costume. But that’s not going to stop some people from saying that a costume that expensive should have turned out even better.
Matt Klentak: Psy - He saw some guys from the Astros wearing this costume a few years ago, and thought it was fantastic. He doesn’t understand why he doesn’t get the same reaction when he wears it in 2019.
Rhys Hoskins: Mariachi - For the second straight year, he picked a costume that seems fantastic at first, but it’ll end up looking like a mess at the end of the night.
David Robertson: Spider-Man costume with a huge rip - It’s expensive, but disappointingly doesn’t hold up at all. It will rip at the beginning of the night and be rendered essentially useless the rest of the way.
Drew Smyly: Batman - He chose the costume because that’s what Cliff Lee went dressed as ten years ago. However, while Lee’s costume was expensive and high-quality, Smyly’s version looks cheap and flimsy.
Jean Segura: Vampire - Not the worst costume out there, but its certainly nothing special either.
Nick Williams: Ken Bone - Everyone’s reaction: “Oh yeah, I forgot about that guy!”
Cesar Hernandez: Slutty nurse - A costume that makes you question his decision-making ability.
Jake Arrieta: Ron Burgundy - It was a great costume when he first wore it a few years ago. In 2019? It looks worn out, and everyone’s pretty much sick of it.
Vince Velasquez: Alien - For the third straight year, we heard about how his costume was going to be improved this year, only for him to show up wearing the same thing: A lousy set of antenna that fall apart before he makes it halfway through the night.
J.T. Realmuto: Nothing - No matter how good the costume it is, he just throws it out.
No matter what your costume choice is, here’s wishing you a Happy Halloween from all of us at The Good Phight!
